depends on how fast their hair grows and what they do to it, in my case we're talking 4 months, I don't know about a normal person......
Based on this i'm going to assume another 6 monthes.... I trim it every 2-3 monthes which speeds up the growth process....so 6 monthes, yeah
doesn't hair grow like....1/2 an inch a month or someshit? take prenatal vitamins (i liberated some...) they make your hair and nails grow faster woohoo
eh idk, ive had long hair for like 5 years, every once and a while ill cut a few inches so its kinda impossible to tell ya how long it took. sorry.
oh right...damn you *shakes fist* i had long hair...then i went to nazi school...now i've left nazi school and so i'm regrowing it... otherwise i woulda never cut it....which would make nearly 17 years of long hair
Mine only took a few months. But then, I guess mine grows pretty fast or something, I need to chop the shit again, it's already hanging too far down my back.
all rr- what is the actual distance in inches? on me it is about six, and assuming the winter spring growth rate averaged at 3/4 inch (conservative), you are looking at .... july-August for that length. trim ONLY if you see split ends. otherwise, get the length then tidy it up. I saw a sister with back of the knees hair last night, but the thickness all ended at her waist: so scraggly...and I was still jealous... (rolls eyes at self) My husband asked how long til my hair was that length on me. I think i'm looking at 2 years for back of (mid) thigh and 2-3 after that for knees. My legs are longer in proportion that my torso. I'm thinking that is my goal length. it's just 4 inches shy of "classic" (thigh-butt crease) right now.
oh, and conditioner is your friend. lots of conditioner or a boar bristle brush to move the oils from scalp to ends. Hair has "shingles" to wick the oil down, but past the shoulder needs help. I have yet to find a non-animal brush that does this as well. (I don't have the brush. I'm a Kosher veg so two strikes on boars)
Noooo don't cut it again ! Drumminmama-whoah thats a lot of advice I trim it every coupla monthes cos the ends tend to dry out quite quickly....thus they split...i only get like 3mm off each time my hair is this long at the moment...and taking into account curl...i'm gonna go with june/july (my hairdresser said march but i think shes being optimisitic...)
Growth originates in the root and the hair itself is non-living. Trimming has absolutley no effect on rate of growth... all it does is shorten the hair.
bollocks to that everyone i know who gets regular trims (male and female) hasreally nice quality hair.....everyone i know who doesn't has gross hair...plus i always notice a growth spurt after a trim on top of which a friend of mine had to cut a foot off because she didn't trim it... AN ENTIRE FOOT
What trimming might do is stop split ends from damaging hair and taking away from its length but there is absolutely no way that cutting it at its end will directly result in cellular genesis from its root. Make it look nicer? Yes. Make it grow faster? Absolute fairy-tale grade bullshit.
if you dont trim off the split ends, they grow. then you have to cut more. so trimming in the end, will help you have longer hair.
The splits grow... yes. but cutting the end has no effect on actual growth. If you don't have a split end issue there is no reason to trim... except perhaps to neaten ends... certainly not to enhance growth.
well.. most people get split ends eventually... but yes, it wont make it grow faster.. but it will keep you from having to cut off a TON eventually.
