Hard to afford to move to a foreign country when you can't afford to pay the rent where you are living today. And most Americans working abroad are only training their own replacements. Tell us please what should we be training for if we want to continue to live in the US. Hotel/Motel jobs?
Try computer skills? paralegal course? nursing? try thinking outside the box? there are community colleges and job programs, there are plenty of opportunites. People get pissed off cause companies don't want to pay them $20.00 an hour plus benfits plus pension plus high U.S. taxes to stand next to a conveyer line and add a part to the muffler, or to deny insurance claims over the phone... Shoot, if they let us drill, mine, and set up the nuke plants like we should be doing you could have one of those jobs, those are not jobs that can be outsourced... the point is, when the world change and we no longer needed blacksmiths do you think the blacksmith bitched about it to this extent, adapt or die, thats evolution.
Nursing seems to be the only booming job in my area and it's not highly paid. Computer and tech is outsourced overseas. Paralegal not many of them in my area. And if the republicans continue to confine tort law, how many legal professioals do we need. Are you suggesting that by drilling offshore and building ill planned nuclear plants we are creating long term jobs? Yeah, and a lot more jobs will be created when the off shore drilling pollutes our coasts, and when cheap nuclear installments melt down in the future or are attacked by terrorists, and mining...just what mining jobs are you talking about. I've thought outside the box, and I am getting by what I am concerned about is our future generations.

Yes jobs in cultivating natural energy resources would be long term if by long term you mean good for at least the next couple decades. You enviro-crazy rant doesn't sway me, there are ways to lessen the effect of used nuke fuel rod cell on the environment, recycle them, how much of the coast of the Gulf is polluted? thats right none of it! Or would you rather we keep buying oil from our not so enviro-friendly friends like the saudis? or let the resources go to those willing to exploit them like the russians or Chinese who give no thought to the enviro-impact? As long as oil is needed (which it is for the foreseeable future) better our companies with our enviro-regulations that those who could care less right?
We buy very little from the Saudis. We buy most of our petroleum from Canada and Mexico. If we tapped our reserves we wouldn't even have to consider the Saudis. I have no paid in retirement plan. I have to live on what I can earn, probably until I die. Buying petroleum needn't be long term if we focus on something else and throw our debt at it. 700 billion could build quite an infrastructure for alternative energy. Maybe you can come up with some meme towards me. But I am not black so perhaps you can come up with something about old folks, that will work for you. Maybe I can use it against McCain in the future. The Russians and Chinese aren't focussed on environmental impacts because our huge multi-national companies have install themselves there and they've told them not worry about it. But now with carbon trading credits...watch out this is the burgeoning market. I bet with their capital they can beat us at Gore's game.

It appears the Saudis have upped their imports since earlier this year. I've dropped the ball since this Wall Street mess happened. Earlier this year and for a number of years Canada and Mexico were our highest imports. It seems since Bush promised them nuclear power they've increased their share. You are currently right.
What infrastructure for alternative energy? Natural gas? Pickens plan? maybe, seems like a good idea, in the meantime as long as we are going to need oil we might as well drill our own with our own enviro-friendlier standards, i'm an all-of-the-above kind of guy when it comes to energy.

So, what ever period you care to name, in that time, the top 3 countries have been the same or other countries have equaled them.
