How Interested Are You In Actually Getting To Know People Here?

Random Sunday Morning musings..........How interested are you in actually getting to know people here? Or do you come here to just have discussions? I've always been more of an emotional thinker as opposed to a practical thinker, and I like to related to people on an emotional level. I look for common interests, sense of humor, experiences. I do also think opposites can attract, as long as people are patient with each other and have a genuine interest in getting to know the other person.

Personally I don't see the point of not wanting to make friends here. Why spend so much time here otherwise? What is the purpose?

There was a time when my closest friends were people I knew through a computer screen.

 

I also Like To feel Like I want to be that way with People ! Have to be careful though Being a Guy ( an older Guy as well ) that people don't get the wrong Idea !! But Yeah I think I have friends Here

 

I've been here for a loooong time.
I used to be more interested in getting to know people, and I did.
Nowadays - not so much, to be honest.

 

I'm interested in eventually meeting people I'm compatible with, but I'm too busy at the moment.

I always get a kick out of people saying "in real life" when they are referring to people they know through the internet that they have met in person. It makes me wonder if they've been living a fake internet life, which I am sure some people definitely are (not suggesting this is what you are doing, so please don't take that comment personally).

it depends on my mood somewhat too. sometimes it's interesting to get to know people, other times i just want to make a few bad jokes and be left alone.

I like seeing pics and what's going on in all the different places. Meeting people are a bonus, sometimes a blessing sometimes a curse lol.

 

I enjoy the discussions but I also like picking up bits of personal information about people along the way.

I wouldnt really bother with this site if I didnt like you guys or find you interesting.

people are ok, but how we make the world is what interests me. how we can have a world we can enjoy without destroying, that sort of thing.

i think the idea that you actually get to know anyone on the internet is a bit of an illusion.

 

Depends on the person, I guess. I've been more open with my online friends than I have been with my face to face friends in the past.

 

It's hard to understand what a person is really like by just arguing and agreeing with their posts online. It's easier to be brutally honest though.

 

I agree, it is hard to understand what a person is like by arguing and/or agreeing with their posts. To really get to know someone, you'd have to ask them questions about their present, past, family, job, ect, and not only that, you'd really have to want to hear and be genuinely interested in the answer.

I came here with the intention of making actual friends, but it seems that few here are of a similar mindset to mine......
