Hey Brother, I feel your pain I do. I was about the only phish phan I knew of in my High School too, many a years pushing phish with no takers. One teacher was apparently a fan but I never had him as a teacher. I tried to get people into phish like mad before I graduated so I could have some people to go to a concert with, but nobody really dug em much. Well, after we graduated (and phish did their final show) THAT'S when all my friends started liking them........... kinda pisses me off, but oh well.
How good is Phish? REALLY GOOD. So good, in fact, that they transcend the meaning of the word "good." Start with Billy Breathes... oh man, I'm so happy for you... it was magical the first time I heard them.
id say, in my very humble opinion, billy breathes and farmhouse are the best albums to start out with. the live stuff wont sound great until your familiar with the studio stuff first
great idea check out http://www.gdlive.com for phish, dead, panic and other live mp3 or .shn shows! love em!
Ive only been listening to Phish for a couple of years now, and I personally think it would be good to start with either Lawn Boy or Rift, both are excelletn albums. I would wait on the live stuff until you get use to the studio albums. Peace and Love, Jon
anyone happen to have any torrent links or anything for the IT festival.. I really want to get my hands on the Tower Jam.. that shit is tight as hell.... god i hope they come back someday....
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=7443 Second day (8/3/03) is all I have. I'll reseed it for you and anyone else who wants it. (And though I know I'll probably get no response for this, could someone please hook me up with 6/17/95? I've been stranded at etree for a couple of days.) EDIT: Day two from IT is up and running, so check it out. And I finally got a seeder on 6/17. If it was someone from here, thanks!
Go for Phishs "A Live One''. It's a 2 disc set and it's amazing! To truely experience Phish, you must hear the live c.d.
I started by listening to their live music, which is really where Phish shines. Of their studio albums I like Farmhouse the best. A Live One is a really good live album. But there are tons of audience recordings that you can get for free if you want to check them out and save money. Right now you can download the 12/30/97 show at Madison Square Garden from this website: www.nugs.net Download it, listen to it, and it you like it get more. They are definitely a band that you either love or hate, and there are more people that hate them. Give it at least a couple of listens, but you should know pretty quickly if you'll like them or not.
Try it again, etree might just be on the fritz. It works for me. If people leave their windows open, there should be two more seeders in an hour or so on 8/3/03, not just me.
that's a good idea, no money, no downloads or conversions, and its all top quality live recordings. Go to http://www.livephish.com/ and click listen.
