How fast have you driven a car?

I did 110 MPH (for a few miles) in this rental yesterday:



Today on the way back (to drop it off) I got it to almost 115, but I was afraid it would blow up, or have a tire blow out and roll fifty times into the desert, not to mention getting a criminal reckless driving ticket, jail time and fines, etc.

The 2013 Dodge Challenger is way too easy to speed in!!!

So what's the fastest you've ever driven?

 

Approx 50-60 miles an hour...

 

lol, 90 MPH the other day trying to pass a truck. I don't like driving that fast, but when it's either do that or get stuck on a hilly road between two semis, I'll push the limit a bit.

 

I hit 105 in my first car when I was a teenager.

 

I hit 120 in my old car back in the day. It probably would have gone faster if the governor didnt kick in and cut the engine power. I think auto makers put those in so that people dont kill themselves at high speed.

 

I hate semis.

There is always one passing another one at 1/2 mile faster.

Might as well pull over and have a sandwich till it passes the other, lol.

 

I used to race a friend everynight after work on the freeway. We'd go 130+mph. Good times

 

In all seriousness...

I've only had driving lessons, so the only opportunity I have had to drive is when I was having lessons. Try getting over 60 learning to drive : /

 

A Cadillac SRX was gaining on me for a several miles on the way home today, I let it pass and then I drafted it so I wouldn't get any tickets.

We averaged 95 until we got into town.

I had to stop chasing him because he was diving in and out of traffic, in a construction zone even.

 

i've hit 120 in my buddies lexus before. didn't sustain that speed for long though.

i've sustained 95-100mph for miles on end though on my drive across the US

 

165 mph in a 1967 Olds 442... It wasn't stock.

 

165 also, but in the 93 Talon I had in college. It only registered 150, but I was side by side with my cousin on his 900 ninja, and he verified 165 before he hammered it and blew me away

 

I've hit 115 behind the wheel. I've gone as fast as 140 in the passenger seat. 93 TSi Talon twin turbo

 

^I've gone 140 in the passenger seat too. I was drunk and didn't realize we were going all that fast. I was in the backseat laying down and just happened to sit up and see the odometer for a second. i just put my head back down and hoped for the best. The drunk person usually lives.

My gov kicks in at 110. That's the fastest I've gone.

 

I did 100mph in my old Nissan Micra 1.2 auto which looked like this



got a newer car now but haven't tanked it past 85mph or so

 

105 to 110 mph in the Plymouth Fury III I got my license in. This was 39 years ago. lol

 

I've never had the luxury of driving an ungoverned car. But you better believe I've maxed out everything I've owned. I think my subaru is governed at like 110 but it spiked at 115 once I'm pretty sure. My 75 omega did 105 with the 250 inline 6 3 speed auto. My 1988 olds custom cruiser station wagon land barge did almost 90 once, but I think there was something wrong with the engine. It sure as hell had a lot of play in the steering. The purple chevy lumina does a steady 107 no matter what. I had a neon, shadow, another lumina, all did 105-ish. I had a dodge stratus for a few months, and It ran with a bad coil pack for most of the time that I had it, so fuck that car.. I finally replaced the coil and it ran great, but got wrecked very shortly thereafter, so no max test was done in that car. I don't think I maxed out my wife's 84 fox body LTD, either. It had a serious compression problem or something, and eventually just didnt start, so fuck that car.
