Maybe think of it more like a poem, and the ideas might flow differently. Then, say the poem out loud...then sing it...and see how it sounds?
I think some of the best songs tell a story, and I've got lots of memories, so it's easy to pick a topic. Flipping that VW off a cliff... sex with a one legged biker chic THE FLESH TENT (18 nekid hippies on XTC in a three person dome tent) Skiing down a black diamond ( with a friend that only skied twice before) in waste deep powder At the hot springs with a moose. Eating Nepalese Temple balls on a jet....trippin! Being a disco king while going to hair styling school with 120 women Doodle bugging (oil exploration) driving a cab in San Diego wild land fighting in New Mexico If ya can't get laid at the rainbow....give up... the mud pits at the rainbow Well now I gotta get busy composing the next album......
Depends on what type of music you're creating, but i would say it follows a good structure, a simple catchy one. [Intro] [Hook] [Verse] [Bridge] [Outro] Something like that.
