I want a fireplace! :( There's something less glamorous about hanging your stockings or snuggling up with your sweet by the oven...

I too have spent my time cuddling by the oven :D

Our house is a total shack, but we can always cheer ourselves up by thinking about the fireplace!

I love winter. I hate being hot, so summer can be too much for me. I'm already sad that winter is about half way through and will soon be over. I'm looking forward to brighter evenings, but not the summer.

You can't change the weather, so why complain about it? Life goes on.

I actually enjoy the cold, any kind of cold.

I pay taxes so I'm entitled to my daily cup of Bitch n' Moan :coffee: at least that's how I see it.

Of course. I just meant that it's futile. Like complaining that the sun is too bright. :sunny:

You only have a cup a day? I'm on my third cup already...

Wow, that's a lot of snow! Around here a lot of snow is 6-8 inches. A foot is unheard of! Stay safe

Last I heard was supposed to be 6-8 around here, too. It was supposed to start around 4pm, but nothing just yet. We just got like 4 inches the other day and most of that is still around... should be interesting. Maybe I should have bought some food lol...

Not looking forward to it. I'm in Wells right now visiting the fiancé. He warned me we're going to be busy tomorrow. :(

    Thanks :)

Ten days ago we had a blizzard with predictions of upwards of 2 feet but had to settle for around 14 inches. I hope this storm is the real deal :2thumbsup:

When you get that much snow do you have issues with roofs caving in under it? I imagine that much snow is really heavy.

On cold wet days (Today is a perfect example) I just chuck on a jumper and thickest fisherman pants, Chuck on some Jefferson Airplane and either watch a movie or search the internet for cool shit while watching the rain blast my big windows. I love the rain

I am really a summer child, i love the sun and heat. Winter is nice when it snows but for me it gets boring after a week of 2 and then i can't wait for the summer and the hot warm sun. Usually i spend my winter smoking weed and eating chocolate, trying to not get depressed.

Interesting you should live in the Netherlands because there was a recent study conducted at the Netherlands Institute for Brain Research involving seasonal affective disorder.

    WINTER BLUES?

    The Right Lights Really Can
    Brighten Your Mood

It goes by many names. Seasonal Adjustment Disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder and SAD syndrome. But you probably know it by just one: the winter blues.

No matter how cheerful and even-keeled we may be throughout the year, studies show that all animals human and otherwise react to the onset of winter and loss of light both physiologically and psychologically. While some of us may simply sleep more or suddenly develop an uncontrollable craving for chocolate, up to 20 percent of Americans suffer greatly from a serious form of depression doctors call "SAD."

Typical symptoms of SAD include oversleeping, overeating (especially sweets), depression, lethargy, stomach and joint pain, and lowered immune system function. Women are particularly susceptible to SAD, comprising 70-80 percent of those affected, and not surprisingly the incidence rate of severe cases rises dramatically the further one is from the equator.
