I'm pretty indifferent to the blog version but I think the actual software that allows for more intricate websites is pretty amazing. There are some quirks about it such as plug-ins being incompatible with certain themes, updates altering things on the site, which you didn't intend to alter and so on. But that stuff withstanding, it's pretty straightforward and relative to the output it doesn't necessarily require a ton of coding knowledge.
It's fine for some purposes. They do boost a near endless supply of themes, and tons of plugins. It's not for full stack application development.
