    i agree with bluefrost that it's only cruel if you force the animal to inhale smoke. my dog is afraid of cigarettes cuz he was smelling my mom's smoke once and burnt his nose, so when i roll a joint he's afraid of it, but then once he smells it burning he sits right next to me on the step, every couple hits i'll blow some smoke his way. afterwards we go to my room and chill out (and he actually watches the TV)

    once i got a friends cat stoned and after we smoked we were sitting in the livingroom and the cat started jumpin around and swattin at shit, it was hillarious. cats are more of the energetic stoner, and dogs more chill.

    Babies also have their own minds. You smoke them up?

    how do people come up with this shit?

    as soon as you say you do something they try to compare it to doing the same thing with one variable and try to send you on a guilt trip. just me venting, but i hate when people do that

    I could really care less what anyone hates.

    Research study shows that a full grown animal, cat and dog, have the mentality of a three year old child.

    Would you smoke up a three year old child?

    If an animal decides to sit in on a session (which ive seen animals do) then they sit in on the session. Blowing smoke in their face or ears or whatever is absolutely ridiculous and you know..if you feel guilty about someone comparing your action to that of doing the same to a child, then maybe you shouldnt be doing what it is you feel guilty about.

    As I sit here..looking at my cat, who just turned a year old..I couldnt even imagine forcing him to smoke pot.
    Seriously, what the fuck.

    If you would not blow smoke into a babies face, why would you do it to an animal? Really? Do you really only have respect and reverence to your own species? And laugh at the expense of others?

    Marijuana

    Veterinary & Aquatic Services Department, Drs. Foster & Smith, Inc.

    Toxin
    Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

    Source
    Hashish, marijuana, and hemp, Cannabis.

    General Information
    Pets are more commonly poisoned from marijuana through ingestion other than inhalation. THC is the toxin that causes the symptoms and is absorbed quickly after ingestion. THC has strong antiemetic effects which make it difficult to successfully induce vomiting to remove the toxin from the pet. Most animals will recover, but it may take 1-3 days.

    Toxic Dose
    Depends on the concentration of THC and the form of marijuana ingested.

    Signs
    Ataxia, dilated pupils, 'glazed' eyes, drop in body temperature, increase or decrease in heart rate, bizarre behavior, hyperesthesia, disorientation, somnolence, depression (may last 18-36 hours), coma, excitation is seen occasionally, drooling, tremors, respiratory depression, or death.

    Immediate Action
    Induce vomiting. Seek veterinary attention.

    Veterinary Care
    General treatment: The induction of vomiting may be continued, gastric lavage is performed, and activated charcoal is administered.

    Supportive treatment: The temperature, pulse, and respiration are monitored and different medications are given depending upon the signs present. A safe environment should be provided where the pet cannot hurt itself or others while disorientated.

    Specific treatment: Unavailable. To confirm the diagnosis, urine levels of THC can be determined in the laboratory.

    Prognosis
    Fair

    Some short term effects of Marijuana use in HUMANS are:
    * Problems with memory and learning;
    * Distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch)
    * Trouble with thinking and problem-solving;
    * Loss of coordination; and
    * Increased heart rate, anxiety.
    I experience some problems with memory when im high. I also experience some distorted perception when im high. I dont normally lose my coordination, but I have often felt an increased heart rate, and anxiety.
    I am 5'6 and I weigh 125 lbs.
    My cat is like 19 inches long and weighs maybe 10 pounds. Lol. Its not even a debate with me.

    Well, I see one big difference between these two situations: dogs aren't humans. you don't have "outside kids" like you might have an "outside pet." My dog would jump on the chance to kill and eat a bunny, because it is in her nature. If she likes getting high, why shouldn't I let her? She's an adult dog. She eats adult dog food. My dog is as smart as she is going to get. 3 year olds, however, are in early stages of development, and pot smoke would be harmful to them. My dog is my buddy, not my little kid. I don't call her baby names or talk to her like she is a baby. If she doesn't like the smoke that drifts in her direction, she'll walk away.

    Ohhh ok I get it.
    Animals arent human. So its ok to give them things that might not be good for them. Cool!

    i say, if they like mary jane, they should get to enjoy it.
    don't force em to do it, because thats just cruel.

    i've never smoked a pet up, because i don't have any.

    Also a dog can get up and walk away if it doesn't enjoy it. Babies can't do that. I think the guy above bluefrost is a dumb shit. What's to keep animals from getting high if they like it? I have seen many stoner animals and they don't seem like they're dying or unhappy.They chill out and eat and go to sleep. That seems pretty harmful. In response to the thread, I agree with the people that say they do as long as it isn't forced.

    I highly doubt a little bit of second hand smoke every once in a while is going to hurt my 95 pound dog. According to most of the websites I have visited, emergencies are usually due to the dog eating the owner's stash. According to this site http://www.vin.com/VINDBPub/SearchPB/Proceedings/PR05000/PR00397.htm , the minumum toxic dose is more than 3 grams, and I bet thats for smaller dogs anyway.

    Yeah, lets see..if im the guy above blue frost..well..the last time I checked..I have a vagina. That would make me a chick.

    Apparently a couple people from this board need to read, and then interpret.
    I said that there is nothing wrong with an animal sitting in a smoke session, ive seen it tons of times..however...
    BLOWING SMOKE IN THEIR FACES OR EARS OR WHATEVER IS RIDICULOUS.

    Well, I was confused because you were still making comments about my post, when you said "I get it, if they aren't human it doesn't matter if it hurts them."

    i've actually got a 3 year old stoned before. it was on accident, but yeah thats not that story. like me and some buddies were smoking and my ex's little bro comes into the room and starts playin with the smoke when we exhale and everytime we'd do it he'd say "do it again" and we thought it was funny as fuck so we did. anyways this kid has cerebal pulsey (sp?) so like he cant walk very well and has trouble talkin, but after awhile we knew he was high because he was runnin around the house and talking to everyone in full sentences, and he just seemed so happy. then the next day he seemed completley fine. trust me i know what we did was fucked up, but it was a one time thing, and due to circumstances, i know that he'll never be in a situation like that again. i dunno i just thought i would share that.

    let the flaming begin....

    what happens with my cat--sometimes he likes to get high, other times he just wants to chill--I'll rip the bong and put it up to his face so he can hit that shit. :D if he doesnt want to, he can move his face an inch to the side to avoid the drifting smoke.
