if you have an healthy way of living, not use any chemicals on your body, just wash yourself good... you will not smell very bad, i tried it and i did not smell bad. Because of using the chemicals every time again, your body has no natural system of her/his own. I tried it and i definatly not smelled bad once my natural system was working again. so im totally for natural!!

There's no real need for it, unless you smell like your smuggling onions under your arms

This is the hippiest thread i have seen in at while.

I think it's a myth. And i think soap is overrated too. I have not used deoderant in 15+ years. I only use soap to work on cars or eat meat. Or to clean the toilet, but i think you can do that with lemons too can't ya?
Nobody ever says i smell bad, and when i tell folks i don't use soap they think i'm jokin. I do live good though. I try to live clean inside, not just outside.

i think deodrant is stupid... i love to smell that unwashed natural smell. casue thats who i am.. deodrant is a symbol of commerciality and in some cases snobishness.. living simple is a lot better

Honestly, it never entered my mind until it was brought up! I have used anti-perspirant for the past several years (from puberty to presant) and never given it any thought. But you all really got me thinking about it. Someone mentioned a combination of beeswax and essential oils, but this didn't work for me. Maybe it was because the beeswax was for candles but I had nothing but bad experiances with it.

READ THE STORY AND LAUGHT AT ALL MY MISUFUNES!!! I have good humor about stuff like that... =D

First of all, when I tried to melt it down it took FOREVER! Then the only thing I had to put it in when it was melted and had the EO mixed in was a plastic soap mold, which, because of the signifigantly higher heat it took to melt that as opposed to melt and pour soap, it actually started MELTING my soap mold! So now I only have 2 of the 3 chambers I can use. Then I realized the stuff gets no softer after all of this, and it wouldn't rub on! I got the bright idea to use a hair dryer to get the stuff warm and soft... Which worked except it caused the beeswax to begin to melt, and when I tried to apply it, some of the melted BW hardened back up, causing several hairs in my arm pit to become stuck in a clump. Which I will add, is not comfortable incase someone wants to go out and dreadlock their armpit hair. So ultimately, this did NOT work out too we for me.

    ---------------------End of story----------------

I went to several drugstores looking for Bert's Bees deoderant, which I never found! I did find like the lip balm, lotions, and stuff but they didn't have the deoderant. However, I DID find a brand called Tom's of Maine. This stuff is all natural, not TOO expensive for an all natural product and the kind I got smells like a crosss between lemongrass and patchouli, which I LOVE!

I have not worn this stuff yet, so I can't guarentee how well it will work. However, I think the fact that I took the effort not to smell bad accounts for a lot. I mean, during puberty, especially in the summer, I found that deoderant didn't always keep me from stinking and anti-perspirant didn't always keep my from sweating. But I made the effort to try not to stink. Even if the stuff doesn't work completely, it is probably better than nothing, and I don't want to go back to the alluminum stuff.

    no way.... not for me....
I've noticed that stressed people, or unbalanced people smell much more than hippies.... I had a time many years ago, i was depressed, stressed, angry ... My body was then producing quite unpleasant and strong odour. Now, i never use anything (i wash, but I'm not obsessed with it, sometimes i don not wash )and still do not smell. Same with guys i've been with. SOme of them smelled nothing.... really quite amazing, and w/o deodorant. Some guys did smell a bit, but it was nice and pleasant. Some did smell even quite a lot, but i still liked it, on some of the guys.... I you are a true hippy, you shoudn't be afraid of your naturaL smell....
