I know people who eat rice with knife and fork. That's pretty hilarious/silly to me. How do you eat your rice?
I have mine with soya sauce and olive spread...I use a fork...Quite manageable...Easier than chopsticks.
If Ive made rice for just me, "fingers" as it gets sticky.. side dish: fork, sometimes spoon.. cereal rice: big spoon..
If I am having rice as a side dish to a meal at home, I use a fork. If it is a traditional dish that I make at home, like Pad Thai, I put out both forks and chop sticks. When eating out in a restaurant that serves it with chop sticks, I use those.
I love eating rice with lots of soy sauce. I rotate using a fork or soup spoon. When eating fluffy white rice we add butter sugar and a pinch of salt. Rice is my second favorite side dish besides potatoes.
lol... when I saw the word "spork" I shuddered. Because when I was in that evil jail (with no a.c. in the summer and being kept in your cell for 23 hrs a day even though we were minimum security with no discipline issues- no write ups..) we had one spork that we'd use for every meal.. keep it, wash it in the sink, use it... that one damn red spork. I saw a spork in a store the other day and shuddered. okay, I eat rice with a fork. But I don't eat rice too often...mostly just in soups and sushi.
That is unsanitary and you should of filed a grievance with the DOC .. its not just unsanitary :its Illegal. all flatware must be washed and inmate given new spoon with each new meal. If you want to keep spoon for personal use, its up to the housing unit/security level ..
The place I was at (Lancaster County Prison) did A LOT of things that were illegal. Every weekend one side of each cell block would be stuck in their cells for 52 hours with NO TIME out to shower or exercise... and all these ppl were minimum or medium security with no disciplinary issues. Oh... there were flyers up in the church areas and AA.NA meeting areas about the PA Prison Commission that you can contact them from inside or out and they will come and visit you about your complaints. We all felt like doing that all the time but the guards were corrupt and we were worried the guards would find out who contacted and take it out on us... But, yea... I had that one spork the whole time. And you had to wash it with your one bar of soap you got for the week *unless you bought more yourself*
