I've been hitting the weights pretty hard the past few years and put on a shit ton of muscle. I can lift for hours at a time no sweat. Cardio on the other hand I find to be a tedious chore. I really wanna get my cardio goin and lose this belly but I just can't seem to get myself to do it. Any suggestions?
Cardio is not going to get rid of the belly. You need to focus on your core stuff. You can do it. Anyone can. PM me if you want to talk.
Common misconception. Core exercises build and tone abdominal muscles. Cardio and diet get rid of body fat
Firecrackers in the rectum. If not motivate you to run, will at least be funny to everyone else, you not so much
To simply motivate myself to do more cardio... if it's too cold out to go outside and I can't afford the gym, nor have the time away from my son to do so, I do simple things at first and then it builds. Example, I may be feeling lazy and sitting on the couch with the tv on. I'll tell myself to get up and just move around in some way or another for like 2 mins... most often when two minutes passes I'm feeling MUCH happier.. so I start running, lunges, punches, kicks, jumping jacks, whatever... I try to go for a minimum of seven mins and focus on that. Because I heard seven mins of cardio is what it takes to truly change your mind. After that I usually just feel good enuf that I want to go a few mins more. So, that's about ten mins. Do it three times a day. Mixed right other random bouts of activity with a toddler and that's a days workout. But, point is... I start slow at times you may not think of exercise and it seems to take off from there.
Walking is good for you, but I would imagine unless you are spending hours everyday walking you won't even begin to match the results of 30-45 min running 3-4 times per week. Walking is more therapeutic/head clearing than actually getting your body into shape.
Any reason you don't want to pick up the pace a little? Try jogging mixed with walking, or short sprints mixed with walking.
On that note, try to mix 3 minutes of walk with one minute of running. Start with jogging. You can do it how ever you want. But maybe four minutes regular walk, one minute jogging, one minute slow walk and stretches... then repeat.. and work up to more. What I used to do a lot is, just look at the clock for fast running and try to hit one minute.. I'd feel so good I'd be running five minutes easily and then switch to walking again, or just moving side to side ..whatever..as long as you keep moving for only a minute or two..then, I'd repeat and being that I'd do this indoor I'd do things then when running like bring my knees up high, etc.
Yep. And rope, and jumping jacks, and mountain climbers, and the punching bag. To me, variety is key to motivation.
Cardio is not a very effective way to burn body fat and can even be counter-productive for some people. The only thing that gets rid of body fat is lean muscle. There are a lot of misconceptions out there and one of them is that there is another way to burn fat. There isn't. Lean muscles burns fat and it's the only thing that does. Diet goes a long way too. It's the most important thing.
You can't spot burn fat. The way to burn fat is to eat the right foods and do the right kind of exercise. Like I have said countless times, high-intensity interval training is the way to go, as you accomplish so much more in a lot less time. I recommend HIIT in conjunction with intermittent fasting if you really want to lean up and build muscle. I supplement HIIT 3x per week with low-intensity cardio, which consists of about a 45-60 minute walk 2-3x per week. A lot of people overdo it when it comes to cardio, which causes their cortisol levels to go up so that they retain fat. Then they wonder why they're not losing weight. More cardio doesn't always equal better results.
