I keep using self talk for depression. Also I make a lot of mental connections of similarity sand connect unrelated stuff . I do it fast and automatically sometimes. Any ideas?

Exercise can help. Happy music. Doing stuff you enjoy. Getting outside for some sun

you might want to check out the book "Curing Depression Naturally with Chinese Medicine" by bob flaws.

regular, gentle aerobic activity might help. meditation and dietary changes might help.

figuring out the root cause of your depression and fixing it and going to therapy might help

a combination of that, & actually not trying to fix [mentaly] it,

and doing the physical things you scurr'd of that will make you a little bit happier.

ultimately everyone's prone to depression at all times because our minds/egos are bottommless, but it's best to not be aware of that too. :D

Do work. Do drugs. Do nothing. Good luck. :/

by not having reasons to keep you mind on "it"? whatever "it" might happen to be.

i don't think there's a one size fits all answer to the question, whatever the question is.

Mindfullness meditation! No kidding. Look up material on jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, Rick hanson, etc. You don't have to be religious to benefit from meditation. You learn alot about yourself and how your mind works. It's not just about relaxatio or escaping from anything. Oh, I almost forgot... Jon Kabot Zinn - look him up too.
