How do I get the SD card to work in my phone?

Can anyone help me figure out why this SD card won't work in my phone?

It's brand new, when it put it in it says "please insert an SD card". I've looked at some youtube tutorials but they don't work.

I have an LG android phone.

I don't see a tab. It is a microSD memory card.

 

the write protection is in the corner somewhere.

is it a super small card you need adapter for? use adapter place in laptop, format..

Maybe if it doesn't work you have to try another one. MicroSDs have no side switches

 

i don't think the write lock guess makes sense. write protected media get mounted read-only, but can be mounted.

 

i have an older micro SD card in my old phone. i tried putting it in my computer's SD card slot (with an adapter thing), but the computer won't read it.

i wanted to get pictures off my old phone.

any tips?

the phone reads it, my laptop won't. but it reads other micro SD cards and normal SD cards fine.

 

can you use a USB cable?
That is how transfer stuff from my phone to PC.

 

i don't have a usb cord that fits it.
