Well I will clear something up for you and I speak for many republicans. Gay marriage is not a huge issue as it has been made out to be. Most real republicans want the government out of the lives of people, I would like anything outside of the "church" to be a civil union (gay or straight) and marriage reserved for the Church.

Most are against abortion as we all should be expect for a few rare cases. As killing a life is never a good thing. We should be for limiting abortion as much as possible by education. Abortion should not be used as birth control or because a mistake was made.

Never seen any republican outside of the really really really hardcore christians/cathloics say anything about contraception.

Then why is the entire national leadership of the GOP saying something else? Wake up.

If most real Republicans want the government out of people's personal lives, well please explain to us how hard the Republican Party has worked to eliminate punishment for victimless crimes and "morality" crimes.

Then why does Obama pay his female staffers less then the men? Show me one case where republicans want to keep women down. President Bush appointed the 1st black woman to Sec State.

The "leadership" does not speak for the people.

And the article you posted from salon is just lies. No one was against contraception, they were against 4 specific types of being covered in healthcare. Women STILL HAD AND HAS ACCESS TO THEM.

I've never figured out how a couple of gay folks getting married affects others so much. Or at all.

aha, see? no, EVERYONE has a right to MARRIAGE. marriage has been around forever and is certainly not only for the church. the church acts so loving and open but excludes and abuses gays.
keep contraception legal. keep abortion legal. it's none of your damn business. if you don't like abortion don't get one. you have no right to assume you know a woman's reasonings and it's really none of your business.

Bullshit. If that were true, they wouldn't keep getting re-elected time after time after time.

The ancient idea was that being gay was a choice and a sin, remember Obama was against gay marriage himself. Then it turned into if gays people could marry then whoelse could marry? 1 man and 6 wives? 1 man and his horse? Some arguments made against gay marriage were very dumb and that was part of older generations not just on the republican side but also on the dems.

You see a change going on, Cantor lost his primary. And like any if they run unopposed then people vote for the lesser of 2 evils.

I agree with that, however if a man tried to satisfy a horse, he'd get laughed out of the barn!!!

That's not even close to being an ancient idea in the Republican Party, as I have already pointed out.

A civil union has the same right as marriage, it is just the word that is different to keep one for the government and the other for the church.

Contraception is legal and no one is trying to outlaw it.

No it is my business if someone wants to kill something. You made the choice to have sex with someone so deal with it, don't kill an innocent life.

And because there are not a lot of women with a lot of time in the House. But that is not keeping a woman down because none will chair a committee.

^so you want to take the women's and her partner's coice away to abort, and stand over their bodies and their decisions?.....
    what next?
Again...I am nt advocating abortion, but am advocating free choice.....and we should have more of them.....as well.
People should have the freedom to make their own decisions in life about their own bodies and circumstances, and then live with it and the consequences....why send anyone to war, either then, to kill and be killed?
Why kill anything?....animals for food?.....Bible says thou shalt not kill....that does not just specify other people...it is thou shalt not kill....period....so if you want to go that route...let us not stop anywhere....fine, by me.

if it is a woman's body it's her domain. and it's not as simple as "choice to have sex with someone so deal with it", how dare you be so callous and ignorant. you have no idea the circumstances, and you're using the term 'life' too loosely. if i kill a tapeworm should i be arrested for animal abuse? fact is, making abortion difficult to get to for women won't stop it; it'll only result in more unwanted lives, more overpopulation, unsafe at home abortions, women resorting to other methods, etc. you're oppressing women. it's inhumane to force any woman to carry a child against her will.

stop bringing up Obama to distract. I really don't care who marries who, or even how many. if the parties are consenting, go for it.
