It's about power. Women desire a man that is powerful in his own regard. Also I agree that these men also possess confidence which women also desire. Even in the example with the musician that isn't famous... the musician is in control of what an audience hears and in a sense some would define it as power.

 

I think that engineers are sexy and interesting... the ones I know anyway.
