it is now. about time. still no fluffy white frozen precipitation though. well it only does that a couple times a year, and not to amount to much. rains more in the summer then winter it seems like. climate change. we're moving to a monsoon pattern, i'd swear. the 7,000 ft hills to the west of us are supposed to get a lot more snow then they have the last couple of years too. while there's always been a cycle of light and heavy years, the dry are getting drier and the wet are getting drier too.
I sooo hope it doesn't snow this season like it did here earlier this year. It was to the point here in SC that it was even on the news and my brother called from California to tell me YOU BETTER NOT DRIVE TO MCDONALDS AND RISK YOUR LIFE AND CAR (he bought me the car lol ) trying to drive in the snow. I assured him that I had way more sense than that. Is global warming and the shifting polar vortex not working right here in the south? It is in the low 30's here and expected to go on down before morning.
Hello, I remember one winter when I was a schoolboy. The only way to reach a neighbour village was by helicopter. They airdropped food rations on them . Regards Gyro
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/weather/winter-whack-nation-faces-arctic-chill-6-feet-snow-hit-n250586 Glad I don't live in Buffalo. I grew up in Syracuse NY and lived in Ithaca NY for 20 years and we did get feet of snow but I don't remember 6 feet at one time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imXX7A8gCqE I guess I was wrong about the amount of snow we got in the blizzard of 1966 in Syracuse. It was 8 1/2 feet. I remembered we were out of school for a week but there wasn't much you could except shovel the driveway. Our street was not plowed out for 5-6 days.
I think I heard that a couple of days ago, it was below freezing in all 50 states, including Florida and Hawaii.
Checked it out... Hawaii isn't being effected by the cold snap, the below freezing temp was recorded during the night at 13,000' atop the dormant volcano Miauna Kea. .whew, that makes more sense. You had me freaked out for a second there... :yikes:.
you spoke too soon, google buffalo new york I remember that snow. By northern standards it was probably nothing but it definitely shut down the south. I was out of work for 3 days. My friend in Atlanta had to abandon his car on the freeway and walk 5 miles home
I might get to visit there before the end of my lifetime. currently 34F feels like heatwave once again..
Freezing my ass off the last two days out there........temp in teens.....and wind chill forget about it.....
Its not over yet in Buffalo and they're expecting another 2-3 feet over the next couple of days Hotwater
