14° F feels Like 1° F Strange winter, So far we've had 70 inches of snow but over the last 10 years we've had at least two winters of over 100 inches - so why does this year seem worse? In terms of cold, over the past 150 years this winter only ranks 48th but it seems worse - WTF is going on Hotwater
are you trolling? it is actually hard to tell. i can see that you clearly understand the difference between weather and climate. are you aware that summer is occurring on the southern hemisphere of this planet as we speak? what about the fact that sydney, australia recorded their highest temperature in 150 years this past january? from http://www.weather.com/news/australia-heat-20130118 i'm not saying that this alone proves global warming. but it's about 100% more evidence than you ever show, rat. maybe weather.com is a fucking governmental conspiracy for all i know. they are probably just a bunch of evil meteorologists trying to control the population. care to provide an actual example about how the "myth" of global warming is going to allow mulch-billionaires (haha, that was supposed to be multi-) to gain control of the world's people and resources?! it might lead to higher taxes and regulations...for corporations! and if it gets twisted into anything else, you can blame it on politics. MAYBE it feels so fucking cold, because for the last 8 years or so you've had mild winters. now it's kinda closer to what it was like when i was a kid...but everyone thinks it's an ice age. and OF COURSE global warming must be a lie....because it's cold where you live. during winter.
I am simultaneously trolling and being serious. What the fuck are you talking about? What does it being summer in the southern hemisphere have to do with temps there vs. here? If global warming was happening uniformally across the globe, which is apparently not the case, then the winter temps in the northern hemisphere would be warmer as well, regardless of the season. Evidence for what? What are you talking about? Because global warming is being used as the justification to pass more international laws and regulations, all of which override the sovereignty of individual nations. It's also being used to promote the carbon credits scam, which is being used to rake in billions of dollars by corporations linked to people like Maurice Strong and Al Gore, and does NOTHING to help the environment but allows corporations to pollute as long as they pay more money. Um, no. It will lead to higher taxes and regulations for everybody!! I mean, soon every car will be fitted with a transponder so their mileage can be recorded and people can be taxed according to how far/how much they drive, as just another way to restrict human travel while sucking even more money out of people as they lose more of their freedoms. I've lived in WNY all my life, and I don't recall winters this consistently cold even when I was a child.
cold winters don't disprove global climate change. and just because politicians and corporations are gonna figure out ways to benefit from it, doesn't mean that climate change isn't real. but i guess i don't really care to have that debate. thanks for the examples you provided. i've lived here my whole life too, and i remember it being colder. my memory isn't that great though.
cold enough that i didnt take the last bag of garbage out, it will be here next week when they come again...hell maybe they didnt come anyway because of the snow.
Global warming isn't happening uniformly across the globe due to the very nature of various weather patterns. I think its called climate change now, not global warming. We had one of the wettest and coolest summers on record here last year (and it was amazing) but prior to that the past 3 summers have been record breaking warm. UK and western Europe has had one of the warmest and rainiest winters this year while the US has had one of the coldest in years. Porkstock is right that prior to the last 8 -10 years, winters like this were the norm. Weather.com is the only website not filtered at my work so I spend a lot of time in it lol, and I've seen the stats. Last time I checked, climate change is no longer being contested at all. The debate is not centered around whether or not it is happening but rather what is causing it.
And despite overwhelming scientific consensus that the major contributor to climate change is man made carbon emissions, the opposition insists (if they admit to climate change at all) that it's part of natural warming and cooling cycles that have been going on since earth began and mans contribution is insignificant. Interesting times indeed :beatnik:
