Yesterday, I pick up my truck from the mechanic. Half-way home the throttle sticks, i'm on the main drag and im accelerating in 3rd gear towards traffic. :willy_nilly: I kill the engine, push in the clutch and limp to the curb. Check the throttle cable and the thottle body, the pedal... everything is fine and freely moving. Get in, start it up, rev it... "hmm. ok." pull away from the curb, go a block, same thing happens. Pull over, call the shop. Dude acts like "wtf" but sends the shop go-fer kid (that gave me a ride to pick up the truck) the kid shows up, looks at it and goes "i think i know what's wrong" , grabs a wrench, disconnects the air inlet duct to the throttle body, and stuck inside the butterfly is a big, torn rubber seal. Nice. Ya, almost got to "life flashing before me" mode. Oh ya, Ford doesn't have that rubber seal anymore.
How close are we to death? Much closer than you might think When I was a kid my friends and i decided to climb on the roof of an old building. I lost my balance and almost fell 8 stories down to the concrete below, but by pinwheeling my arms I managed to regain my balance but it was too close. Hotwater
Had we been going a little faster in the wreck that tore up my first car in 2006, I probably would've died. Had a jack in the trunk and a backseat that folded forward to give access to the trunk. The impact of our car hitting the car that stalled in front of us flung the jack from the trunk into the back of the passenger seat where I was sitting. I hit my teeth on my chest (not boobs, chest). I wasn't hurt all that bad (though that neck injury may come back to bite me in the future since I refused to go to the hospital or doctor. Hell, I'd be in major debt if I had gone, bitch didn't have insurance) but much more force could've very well severed my spine. The lady's friends tried to tell the cops we were speeding, but like I said, had we been, I could've died or been paralyzed.
120mph--hit truck. 2 dead-1 vegetable--and me. Gun pulled on me from 3 feet away--ran like a MF. Rolled 2 cars--not hurt. Not too bad, anyway. Curious--found abdominal aneurism=fixed. Broke disc in spine-fixed. Double hernia-fixed. Entire aorta from crotch to heart--replaced with what looks like radiator hose. Roofed 40 some odd years--extremely dangerous situations--have only fallen off 3 times. Lived. Survived embolism in lung. AS you-all can see---I'm going to live FOREVER!! I am a tough motherfucker!!!

My husband almost died a few weeks ago. I'm always worried about death. Not for me. I'm invisible. For other people- some people just seem like they are ready to die any minute and need protected. Me, I could eat rat poison and live... but yea... I'm not happy with death right now. Last week a lady I consider a gramma died. She isn't really my relative but was like one. She was 92. It was expected but sad still.
