I've posted horary delineations elsewhere in this sub-forum. I'm not speaking for Sadist, but an average natal delineation takes me several hours and averages about 20 pages. I'm not posting that here to prove a point to someone who won't appreciate the effort.
don't recall asking you too i do find it odd that no one thinks it would be a good idea to spend several hours proving to potentionally 180 thousand members here that astrology is worth believing in and trusting .... it's hardly just me, it's a massively busy website and personally of course i'd appreciate the effort.. if you'd take those several hours to prove that there is no free will, it's all predestination, and everything is solely based on the position of the heavenly bodies (therefore debunking the majority of the worlds religions and philosophies... not to mention answering the oldest philosophical questions in humanity) .... i'd give ya little green "post aproval" balls till they were coming out of ya ears... hell, i'd even happily travel to your home to buy ya a beer... and i'm sure i wouldn't be the only one but if it's all too much effort... i completely understand...
That I disagree with. I practice traditional (pre-17th century) astrology, and it has a lot of specific things to look for. Some of the logic is completely different than modern, so there are clear techniques to find specific things. Thus not as many contradictions. Plus 16th century astrologer Jean Baptiste Morin, while I disagree with some of his statements, wrote down a clear framework on how to delineate a chart. Abu Mashar in the 9th century wrote about which planets take precedence over others. It's been an eye opener.
Tough I answered. Yes it is too much effort. I've been doing astrology a long time, and challenges of this sort never amount to anything. The astrologer ends up spending hours to illustrate his technique, and you get nothing in return. In the end the skeptic remains the skeptic, and the believers remain the believers.
would it help if i offered money? i see a lot of astrologers who won't even jot down a b'day unless cold hard cash is involved if not, no problem, like i said on the previous page... i'll keep searching for an astrologer who can produce when asked one is bound to turn up here sooner or later
It's not in their best interest to produce on demand. By heightening the sense of mystery/uncertainty they can obfuscate what they're doing (ie. not much) and charge more due to the increased sense of scarcity. Would you really pay a bucketful of cash if 2 minutes later they came back and just said that you sometimes get angry, like socialising with people, and will have children with two legs?
yeah, confidence tricksters are low creatures... but ya still gotta throw down the gauntlet and give them a chance (without ever handing over cash of course) even if it is just to prove that they are full of shite
This is exactly why I don't take these kinds of challenges anymore. Your mind isn't open. It's already made up. You already assume we are all "confidence tricksters" and "low creatures". No I'm not falling for that.
you can hardly say my mind isn't open when i'm publically offering astrologers to prove their stuff it's cool, you'd already refused to do it 9 posts previously and you are hardly the only astrologer in existence ... it's just a matter of waiting for one to visit the thread who will willingly and freely prove their worth ... no rush, it don't need to be you
Once in awhile I enjoy reading them. Sometimes they are right on the target but there are others that are off key :S lol! But it's fun to read them
Thats the way I mostly look at them too. Usually they don't seem to be relevant, or maybe they might be in a general sort of way. But every now and then, I'll read a horoscope online for me (a virgo) for a certain day, and it will nail it - dead on, and I'm just amazed. You know, too big of a coincidence to be just random chance.
I just had to dust off this thread to share a nifty quote that i saw today: Astrology is a science in itself and contains an illuminating body of knowledge. It taught me many things, and I am greatly indebted to it. Geophysical evidence reveals the power of the stars and the planets in relation to the terrestrial. - Albert Einstein
aw I love my old friend albert I think celestial bodies have much more control over us than we think. Consider the way the moon effects the ocean. We are microscopic compared to the size of the ocean; if the moon can have such a powerful pull on something so much larger than us, it and other celestial bodies must effect us in some way to.
I think anything has an effect on how we act and feel. The more energy it has the more it effects you. How you can map out how it effects all of us individually however, I find that to be impossible.
I still don't believe in it. But I did this experiment where i checked my horoscope for a week. 6/7 days, it was fairly accurate. Maybe there's something to it, but I still don't believe in that kind of stuff.
