Don't forget to consider the shot if you can handle the long list of side effects. W/ the shot there aren't any pills to hide and you only have to remember to go get it every 3 months....

u have to just get yourself on the pill. Take control of your life, and your body. Ive been on it since I was 15, and it was the single most life changing thing ive ever done. Because you really do take total control of your own life, and your own body.

when's your birthday? I'd say just wait til you're 16 and can go to a free place and get on the pill, it should be legal for you to be having sex, so it's not your mom's business. My mom found out I was having sex and made me go to the doctor, and I told them I wanted to be on the pill..I have to pay for it, but it's a great decision. My boyfriend and I always have been very responsible about it, but of course it was scary when I thought I was supposed to get my period and didn't get it on that day, so now I don't worry at all, and can control my period, and acne is non existent. Just sneak around, go to the DR, and get pills, but don't tell her, so you can still see your bf..my parents still don't want me having sex even though I'm 18 and on the pill, I don't think any parent wants their kid to have sex, but we're going to do it anyway...

I'm a med student in the UK, so I can tell you what happens here, though your state may be completely different!

GPs and planning clinics have now got to follow Gillick/Fraser guidelines. These were made when a 15 year old went to her GP, got on the pill and her mum (Mrs Gillick) found out and tried to sue the health service (and lost). To stop that happening again the judge (Lord Fraser) said that any under-16 deemed to be competent must be put on the pill, and their confidentiality must be maintained (can't tell the parents).

The whole competence thing has quite a low threshold, basically if you've gone along you've shown quite a lot of maturity anyway and you'll get on it.

If I were you, I'd go round to your local family planning (don't be nervous, the staff are friendly and the places are usually packed with scared looking teenagers!) and take your boyfriend. He'll give you support and the nurse or whoever will probably be impressed that the two of you care.

They might not give you it (I don't know how tight the bible belt is where you live!) but what they will not be able to do is tell your mum or anyone else that you tried to get it, because basically they could get sued for everything they have!

I have a stupid question.. why do you need your moms permision to do it? do you have to be a certain age or something if so thats stupid. You can buy condoms no matter wat ur age so why would the pill be that much different..

at first my mom wouldnt let me but then i decided that if she doesnt take me to get it then im going to steal her health insurance card and go to our local planned parenthood. Then she ended up letting me but thats what my friend had to do. She just took her moms insurance cards and went to this planned parenthood and got tests done and got birth control. But yeah if yuour mom wont let you then i would just do it and not tell her and then we she does find out you can show her that it helps a lot and it prevents you from having little monsters running around.lol.

Pregnancy can happen, even on the pill! There are a bunch of forumers that can attest to this. Plus, I'm sure you can find a lot of women in YOUR area, as well.

Especially if you have irregular periods, the shot's not a good idea. Ain't nothing worse than cramming your body chock full of artificial hormones (and expecting your body not to react).

A good birth control method that doesn't involve sneaking around and hiding things from your mother is Fertility Awareness. Just knowing what all of the different excretions from your yoni mean, and what a .5 degree temperature difference can signify will make you able to be that much closer to your body, and frankly, that is a lot more freeing than chemical birth control, at least in my experience.

A good book to read is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. All you need is a basal body thermometer (digital is fine) and some copies of the chart used to lay it all out for you. There's even a website so you dont need to keep a bunch of paperwork around. Seriously, if you're interested, PM me. I can tell you more!

DO NOT FORGET TO USE A CONDOM ANY MORE EVER AGAIN.
We can by birth control foam in the stores here. We can by the birth control sponge here. It costs a bit but it is way cheaper than feeding a kid for 18 years or terminating the pregnancy.

Use a condom because of the bugs not just the sperm.
You do not KNOW who your partner has been with unless you are with them all the time.

    Play safe.

    My two cents:

If you aren't mature enough to "remember"/decide to use a condom, please stop having sex before you accidentally breed. Use your head or close your legs.

I told my Mom I wanted to use birth control to regulate my period (which was a total lie) and to help with a skin problem (Which was absolutely true)... Birth control often helps skin conditions. Of course, if you don't have apparent skin conditions, your mom might be skeptical. You could mention irregularity in your period or pain.. It's not like she would know the difference. It's better to be safe than sorry. Unfortunately, you sometimes have to be sneaky :-\.

Yes, the pill is stupid. I don't even know why we have the darned thing...

On a more intelligent and enlightened note... Planned Parenthood is the way to go. At least you're responsible enough to use condoms as well ask and seek out somewhere to get birth control.

I found the best way to approach it was complain about menstrual cramps, etc. But since you've already brought it up, well... But yeah, some parents don't understand. The don't-ask-don't-tell policy is great.
