From behind my sunken, bloodshot eyeholes it appears as if ya'll are completely attached to being right, and that makes me wonder if it is even acheivable in that context, but that's just my interpretation of all this silliness. Since you choose to spirit-spar in public view, on a hippie forum of all places, I will chime in uninvited and unsolicited... To address the issue, pages back, about Buddhism being of the mind, and not the heart, perhaps this reference would make one consider the importance of the heart in Buddhism... Never give up no matter what is going on Never give up Develop the heart Too much energy in your country is spent developing the mind instead of the heart Develop the heart Be compassionate not just to your friends but to everyone Be compassionate Work for peace In your heart and in the world Work for peace And I say again Never give up No matter what is happening No matter what is going on around you Never give up" H H The XIV Dalai Lama, 1994 Now maybe the Dalai Lama is not as learned as yourselves in Buddhist philosphy, but it appears to me that he is very clear about the importance of the heart in all affairs Buddhist. I personally am not attached to being right, and it is a good thing, because I seldom am. I wish you all nothing less than joy, redemption, good will, compassion and transcendance. If I ever had the inclination to believe that Buddhism was not about developing the heart I would have eschewed the philosophy altogeher, and pursued another course to enlightenment. Now if you'll excuse me, I must be one my way. Hempy trailmix, Nawang Tsultrim-
Since your brought up his holiness, here you can see how the cosmic joke of the one consciousness gets through! His Holiness the Dalai Lama Reflects on Working Toward Peace Today's world requires us to accept the oneness of humanity. In the past, isolated communities could afford to think of one another as fundamentally separate. Some could even exist in total isolation. But nowadays, whatever happens in one region eventually affects many other areas. Within the context of our new interdependence, self-interest clearly lies in considering the interest of others. Duh, he's knows his shit... The guy has been through 14 really fuckin wise incarnations, he knows its all one consciousness!
He knows Buddhism, indeed. I was expecting you to point out the irony in my pointing out how attached you are to being right, as I tried to demonstrate that you that you were wrong. I seems to be the exact same thing, and I a hypocrit, he he. Don't you think that we could be both one, and separate? Do you believe in absolutes?
good question, seperation is an illussion, the best way to think about it, as if you dreamed you were all these different forms and all these different universes and planets, all these different planes of experience and you lived out all this suffering and joy... and then you woke up, and realized it was only you... you all the time... and you wanted to dream and wake up, and you were always awake too, even though part of you got lost... laugh for 20 minutes until your ribs hurt and you will get closer to understand this. Thus from this perspective you can see how all the suffering was worth it. Because it allowed us to see the capatabilities of our own thinking process which is creation. Leela!
