I'm familiar with Ott and all the twisted label, I enjoy his Hallucinogen in dub album.

 

i was at that bassnectar show that it was insain as hell. i feel like bassnectar is somewhat dubstep but he has to much varity of music to be considerd just dubstep i think? iunno. but, ott also played there. it was bassnectars first indoor festival. it was sick. i saw ott again in eryle april, he played at a little bar, i was on 2ce, bars + 2ce = lmao

I think Dubstep is good but House is better. I think House is going to be around a lot longer and because the following is a lot larger

 

If anyone knows anything about House and Dubstep they'd choose house. Fidget House has got the wobbliness that people think makes Dubstep good but it's actually got a proper dance music beat rather than a rubbish Half step Dubstep beat which basically halfs the speed to 60-80 BPM and makes it undancable.

dubstep evolves edm.its cool to be all nastalgic, but it gets stale. electronic music is all about progressing music. its the only genre that has the ability to rapidly change. all other genres are limited by the fact that they use the same instruments.
If i want to hear good rock music there are a million good bands. sure someone can be a great guitarist, but how mind blowing can it be after jimi hendrix, eric clapton, jimmy ray vaughn eddy van hallen exc. how much better can anyone be at organic instruments than whats already been done

computers are the next thing. sure people like house so itll exist, but how boring is that? how much better can house be? its the same thing in every track. like i said dubstep isnt my favorite genre but knowing people who are seriously good djs and understanding music and seeing a lot of live electronic music there is just way more going on in that genre right now as far as pushing edm forward.

 

Just cos House is old doesn't mean it isn't progressive Please explain how Dubstep is progressive because to me it's just a really shit version of Dub reggae with stupid synth noises which appeal to 'Scene Kids'.

Dubstep is like pop music IMO, people won't look back in 10 years and say 'Wow man remember how good Caspa and Rusko was back in the day'.

But if you like it then fair enough this is just my opinion.



One more thing though Dubstep isn't EDM IMO, yeah it's electronic it certainly isn't Dance music though and if you can dance to a half step beat then fair enough.

Dubstep is supposed to be 138-142 BPM so half that and that is actually the beat you are dancing to. 70 BPM!! (House is 128)

if youve ever been to a dub show people dance waaay harder than any house show. I will totally look back on caspa and rusko with very fond memories. hopefully dubstep will not go away but evolve into some other genre of electronic music.

 

Acid house has nothing to do with LSD I hope you actually know that when you were making that post but i highly doubt you did LOL

 

also house is not progressing the genre because it all sounds the same. i can tell the difference between all of my favorite artists instantly. i cant tell one bit of difference between house tracks. obviously i can tell about when the song came out and if its a different type of house but as far as individual artists it is all pretty much identical and incredibly stale. it had its place in 90s warehouses but now it is time to evolve!

like i said my favorite electronic artists are not dubstep artists. tipper is hands down the best electronic producer right now. i also love ott, eskmo and of course eoto!

fighting over opinions is totally worthless i stated that at the beginning of the debate.

i am pretty passionate about the music i like and i think i gave rather intelligent responses that went far beyond it sounding the same. i never heard a single reason why house was worth anything other than its been around since the 80s which is a bogus reason to like anything

 

have you guys ever seen this stuff live? or do you just listen to it on a laptop? because that was what really changed my opinion. to get the full effect of most of this music you need a huge concert level speaker system. house just does not hold up to dubstep on a live setting and the crowd goes nuts!
ive been to warehouse raves and its just full of awkward candy kids who are just there to get fucked up and rally around something awkward that the general public doesnt like so they can feel like they belong to something special.

look at my profile pictures, im not a scene kid. im a fucking canoe guide for gods sake, i spend half my year out in the middle of canada by myself. im not there cause its "cool" i dont give a fuck about "cool" im there cause its incredible!

with dubstep the crowd loses their mind. on an awesome drop you can see the whole crowd sink 6 inches in perfect unison and leap up together and fly around, its fucking incredible!

if you just sit at home and like electronic music i can understand why you think dubstep just sounds annoying, its cause your speakers dont do it justice! go see downlink, liquid stranger, caspa, rusko is getting a little commercial but still fun, j rabbit, or flux pavilion. take lsd and listen to it! shit sounds like its billowing up from the center of the earth!

or just be a fist pumpin guido and rock out at the gym and do your laundry or whatever else you guys think is cool.

I've been to Dubstep parties before, I don't ever wish to attend another one.

 

dubstep shows and dubstep parties are totally different things. also no one has said one thing to back up why house is better

 

house has a little bit of EVERY single kind of music out there, except for shitty stuff, and it has such an extreme vast amount of unlimited possible beats/flicks/twerps lol. It is always upbeat and when you are on drugs its like influencing you to release your adrenaline and go roll with time and the bump and the bass and some sick ass game spittin.
