There isn't going to be a draft, all the talk is just scaremongering put out by politicians looking to push an agenda. First of all, if there was a draft, conscripts would actually make the military less efficient, since the soldiers would be unwilling to get their asses out of bed at 4 AM (or follow any of the other thousand rules & regulations of being in the military), much less take a bullet for the team. Unwilling recruits would bring down morale, and military officers recognize this. Second, look at the candidates. Our generation is a lot different than the WWII generation, or even the Vietnam generation. Our young people (the would be draftees) are fat, lazy, pampered, and unmotivated, not exactly the qualities you look for in our nation's front line of defense. It would be more trouble than it's worth to try and whip a bunch of our lazy ass kids into shape. Plus, we don't need more recruits. If push comes to shove, it would be a thousand times simpler to just pull a few thousand troops from Europe or Japan to send them where they need to go, or withdraw from Japan entirely and let them form their own army if need be instead of a draft.
