Hot Mess

What does it mean?

 

I always took it to mean like a meal, just cooked, ready to eat, yum yum, drop it everywhere. It's hot and it's messy. Something that was looking really good is now looking really bad and you can't do much about it because you might burn your fingers.

 

According to the Urban Dictionary

 

can be used to describe a pretty girl with unkempt appearance........

in a sentence..

piaf woke up looking like a hot mess

rollingalong woke up looking like a mess....

see how one is better than the other...

 

I dont think it means an attractive mess at all. I always thought it meant an ever bigger mess than a normal mess. An uber mess.

 

I always took it to mean someone who was going through some drama or is dramatic also. Always heard it like "What a hot mess!" when someone was acting all crazy.

 

Probably what everyone here is saying, but I also use it for another way.....if something needs my attention like a room I need to clean or something, I may say I have one hot mess I need to take care of today.

so in this way....hot meaning it needs immediate attention....but then there is the hot chick meaning too, but I never heard it used in that way before.

It sounds sexy. It sounds like 3-5 sexy women romantically involved with each other at the same time and nobody knows who's who. =}

it makes me think of diarrhea. that's not what it means, but it's what comes to my mind anyway.
