When you rarely contribute to anything else other than politics on HF, and you read the word "horse" you must just associate with Hilary. Lol.

i've never particularly cared for horses myself. horse people helped me out a good bit back in high school though. i did hay for a farmer who made really good money by making nicer looking hay and selling it to "horse people" for twice as much as cow people would pay for the same stuff. according to him, cow people just buy the hay they need, and horse people are more concerned with how it looks than the actual quality so as long as the bales are pretty they'll pay out the ass for it.

by the time i was done working for him, i was making $10.50 an hour. and this was back when minimum wage was $5.15.

i assumed it had to do with what you're hung like...

Here's the difference between horses and cows diet wise. Farmers buy cheap old borderline hay, because a cow has one stomach with 4 chambers, these little buggers can digest almost any forage they are given. I personally see the nastiest stuff being offered to cattle. Now horses, they have one, very delicate stomach. They do a single digestion, not multiple like cows. Horses are very prone to various stomach ailment which cattle are almost immune to. Feeding a horse anything less then top quality food only means you may be paying vet bills in place. Besides, a horse is your friend, your riding/working partner, picture feeding your dog "Ol Roy"...….Or your child only Burger king"...….

And cowboys can tell the difference between shot out old hay and top quality forage. Not to mention those that really care will supplement their hay with a twice daily ration of a special blend of proteins, carbs, and healthy fats....Ummmmmm, just saying

fair enough, that does make sense. i'm just going on what my boss told me, which was that the quality didn't matter as long as it looked pretty. but he didn't have animals either, so he might not have known shit about them beyond what their owners were willing to buy from him.

which actually happens all too often.

One important fact to understand......not everyone who owns a horse is a horseman. Not everyone spends almost a year researching equine nutrition in order to customize a diet to replace "grains" for them. Me, I happen to love all animals and try and give them the best life I can. I'm a sucker for fur...LOL

yeah, i'm guessing it's more like almost no one. not that there's anything wrong with it, i'm a big believer that if you're going to do something, you should do it to the best of your ability. but yeah, i bet it's a very small percentage of horse owners that actually take the time to learn all that.

You would actually be surprised....but the custom feed thing does turn a few eye brows. Hey, very slim chances of my horses getting "colic", that's something that can kill a horse real quick. Well all except my dog, this guy will eat anything. Including but not limited to toilet paper, paper plates, plastic, string or rope, straws....etc etc. LOL

I've seen video's of people closely bonding with a wild assortment of critters, wild and all. I think it's so amazing when we bridge that "gap". Last year in the peak of the solar eclipse I was outside with the horses watching them eat their hay. At it's zenith they both stopped chewing and just stared at me, very unusual. It really felt like time stood still at that exact moment.

Horses are such noble creatures, it’s unfortunate there are videos out there which show women engaging in sex with horses while being bathed in sperm

Also, despite the history books which tell you the Spanish brought horses over to North America in the 1500s, there’s a 50 million year fossil record of horses in North America,
before they became extinct at the end of the Pleistocene.

Yup, the three toed horse, gone bye bye. If not for the Spanish reintroducing the horse we may have missed out completely on this wonderful and useful creature.

And if she knows that you're thinking means you've bonded well.
Mules are awesome, I'm sure you know but I'll mention it anyway. A horse can be rode until he dies, a mule knows better, he's stop and say WTF ??? Very cool creatures mules are. Enjoy your buddy Alice.
