I think the reason they do this self sabotage stuff is because they are mentally ill which makes them act "stupid". most people around you probably act the same exact way but they are trained to keep their shit together so that they dont turn homeless.pretty simple dilemma

Acting stupid on purpose can be rebellion . It could be funny . To a comedian a mass burial of the homeless is called composting .
I think the homeless would be ok with a new city of simple huts , gardens and composting toilets . Oh , but what to do for money ?
The country hippies grew pot , and there was the blackberry wine , and making cattail tampons , and harvesting wild herbs , and
    entertaining religious tourists ... etc

stupid is not correct....there is many less hurtful words you can use that are way more accurate.....developmentally handicapped persons can act erratic and become belligerent at times....symptoms can present in a hundred ways......saying they act stupid just isnt nice

ftr....I have seen more stupidity coming from the so called ''sane'' than from the so called ''insane''

It's not difficult to tell when a person is just down on their luck and not beggars. And those folks aren't out there with cardboard signs telling lies like, 'homeless veteran', or ''family needs food' get nothing from me. But there are some, several a year, who I see and simply hand them a twenty.

This comedian is correct in Boston we try to hide our homeless, whereas in LA & Frisco they're on display.

I once asked a tramp what's the good of begging . The reply : it teaches people how to give with goodness . Will Work For Beer . Need Dogf ood .

There are a lot in the neighborhood I live. It's a problem. One barked at me this week, and I was worried I'd have to defend myself against a crazy old man.

Many chronically homeless are mentally ill, and a lot of mentally ill people also take drugs. The two aren't mutually exclusive. But after living overseas and having gangs of homeless children run up to me at night, I'm slightly colder to giving spare change to homeless people here. Mostly because it doesn't help. Also I don't carry cash much anymore.

They don't need spare change. They need housing.

I gave some woman a dollar yesterday. I don't think she was homeless, but her sign explained that she has 3 kids and no job. I think she really needed help, but I couldn't part with a $5, lol. I gave her a $1. :sunglasses:

I like to help them when I can. I was on a walk though and passed a guy too. I felt kind of bad, but you can't save everybody. :mask:

I did awhile back. Hell me & my room mates opened our homes to people and it didn’t work out. We let a mom & son move in. Mom would use room mates make up then lie about it. I was nice and let her son ride my bike with the neighbor kids. Standard rule of no horsing around as my bike was how I got to work. Not 5 minutes later there’s a knock. Jackass tried to play chicken with it. Failed and completely ruined it. Snapped my right brake handle clean off and rear tire wouldn’t budge. Took him a day and a half to apologize. Mom saying we should be thankful he wasn’t hurt. Day before they left he commented am I still going to give him the bike? I told him hell no. I told him I was nice and asked 1 thing. The one thing he couldn’t listen to. He ruined my bike and technically owes me a bike. So no he will not be getting a bike from me. After they left we decided no more people crashing.

Yeah, I never bring people over, or even into my car for that matter.

Most of homeless people are in cities like SF and LA, where they can find or get food and little money to sustain their needs, they are homeless sometime because of a bad decision, but mostly because of their deficient mind, alcohol and drugs, you can see it right in front of you if you go to one of these cities, where seringues and empty bottles are all over the place between their tents, you can donate all you want, it won't change nothing, not because they don't want to, they just can't with a burnt brain...

The homeless situation can never be changed by giving them anything. The vast majority are mentally ill and/or drug addicts. The cater to them and encourage this type of behavior is insane. They can not function in a normal society. Eventually there will be a very nasty disease outbreak that will stem from this open filth. They made their choices, we need to make ours.

I’m not saying kill them but I don’t like them. We have a 2 places that serve warm meals every night at 5-7:30. I’ve volunteered at places that help the homeless but it’s never enough. I had some guy ask to borrow $2 to ride the bus. I was generous and gave it. He saw I had more and said hey can I get couple more I’m hungry. One of my current jobs I’ve had managers be nice and buy them some food. That was a mistake. Same guy keeps coming around to “give my manager cigarettes he owes him.” My manager doesn’t smoke anymore. Had one guy “borrow” $5 only for another guy to come in asking for money “because you gave it to the other guy.” The one that infuriated me was my doll of a shift lead. A total sweetheart gave a guy a drink “because he’s dehydrated” then he asked for a free sandwich. The only time I’ve seen her snap at someone. Told him your taking advantage of my kindness. Leave & don’t come back.
