I wrote around 250 pages of a story on looseleaf based on this premise.

It's about a broke junkie who works the night shift watching the security cameras in a mental hospital and gets to witness all the fucked up poopoo that goes down there at night, while he steals medicine and gets hopped up on morphine.

It turns out that there are ten guys in the hospital who all have the same 'delusion' and believe that they are jesus, but later we learn that god just likes to bang virgins and has, in fact, fathered many sons here on earth (all of whom have been thrown in this asylum)

It turns out that the jesuses have lost their miraculous powers because of the drugs theyve been force-fed in mental asylums and have, therefore, been unable to carry out their mission on earth and save humanity from itself.

I haven't written the ending yet, but the hero has to find a way to break the jesuses out and get the salvation of humanity back on track.

the twist is that one of the 'jesuses' is not actually the son of god, but the antichrist, and he tries to foul things up and keep the jesuses locked up and tortured in the mental hospital.
