wow.. it's 2.99 here... i was surprised it didn't go up today.. luckily my car is still past the Full line *crosses herself*
People in the UK regularly commute for 1-2 hours per day. That's completely normal. Are you trying to say you use cars more in the US? I think not. And as for being able to take public transport everywhere - what planet do you live on? You try getting public transport outside of any major city or town. Its not possible. Obviously you all know absolutely zero about travelling and transport in the UK and Europe. Just because the areas are small doesn't mean people don't actually go anywhere! Oh but America is so big you have to travel the length and breadth of it regularly I should imagine. I spent around £80 a week on 'gas' as you call it when I was in the UK, which would be about $136 to you. Many people spend much more than that. Your 'gas' is so so much cheaper than anywhere in Western Europe.
Thought this was kinda funny...and at the same time, seemed to ease my mind a little... Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump... Compare with Gasoline...... Think a gallon of gas is expensive? This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective. Diet Snapple: 16 oz $1.29 ........ $10.32 per gallon Lipton Ice Tea: 16 oz $1.19 ...........$9.52 per gallon Gatorade: 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon Ocean Spray: 16 oz $1.25 .......... $10.00 per gallon Brake Fluid: 12 oz $3.15 ........... $33.60 per gallon Vick's Nyquil: 6 oz $8.35 .... $178.13 per gallon Pepto Bismol : 4 oz $3.85 .... $123.20 per gallon Whiteout: 7 oz $1.39 ........ . $25.42 per gallon Scope: 1.5 oz $0.99 ...$84.48 per gallon And this is the REAL KICKER... Evian water: 9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER - and the buyers don't even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.) So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid, Pepto Bismol or Nyquil.
well, the upside is that people will take alternative fuels and transportation resources more seriously, especially since we all know that gas prices aren't going to go down again. i mean, why should they? the american public has proven what they're willing to pay for fuel.
i dunno,, i drove 200 miles today in a area that should be havin heavy traffic this bein the last holiday of the summer,,an traffic was VERY light... i think folks just got sticker shock myself...
i noticed the exact same thing hillbilly.....there was nearly noone on the roads and the stores were vacant...
1.34 per litre here which is fucken madness!! i was watching ctv news earlier, and they converted the price of american gas in gallons, into canadian litres and it was only 80 cents! now, 80 cents a litre....we havent seen that in a while.
like 2 days ago, i seen it for 3.41 but now its about 2.99, That 3.41 shit, they were gouging, Im in jacksonville florida for now, Back home in Indiana, its a little more expensive
1.34 (price) X3.78 (american gallon)= 5.06 5.06 x .84 (todays exchange rate) = 4.25 so its 4.25 american per gallon here in canada
it's 3.29 for the cheap stuff here at the moment in this lil oasis between the mountains and the sea.
Think again. Most driving/gas use is used on short trips around the city, and here, we almost have to drive to do these trips. In most European cities, there is good public transit and shorter walks/bike rides. In the US, everything is spread out, and the pedestrian is at a loss in many cities, including mine, Detroit (including suburbs). Half the time there's no sidewalks even. The only way to get around is in a car. It's just a fact that we drive more in the US. Our gas consumption and carbon dioxide emissions per population are proof of this.
Detroit has the WORST public transportation system of any big city I've ever been to...it's ridiculous. And, yup, you're right, Trippen...some roads have no sidewalks or the sidewalks are closed... Transportation within Michigan is ridiculous anyway...everything is so spread out.
at a little gas station about 5 1/2 miles away from me it was $3.10 yesterday. Today they are out of gas!
our govener at 11 pm last night suspended all state taxes on gas until further notice,, and we saw 2.86 cents a gallon today,, thats down 33 cents.. hhhmmmm i wonder how far it would go down if the feds did the same?? oh an by the way our govenor is a republican..
