Yes, that is true on a country-by-country comparison. Thing is, a friend of mine lives twenty miles from work. Could he live closer in? Well, sure, we all could, probably, but we don't and there it is. How many errands could you run in twenty miles where you live? Our country being as huge an area as it is has set our way of living spread out, that is if one doesn't live in a city like New York where a fair number of people don't even own a vehicle. A problem that exists is that, once outside the bounds of a large municpality, mass transit doesn't exist or doesn't serve very well.

 

and most times, being in the large municpality is dangerous to your mental health and to your physical well being...

Well now, here's something new... some suppliers of gas in Virginia are reporting that they are out.

I think I said earlier $5/gallon. Let's make that $7... when you can get it.

That is if the guy who couldn't find oil in Texas doesn't cap prices.

 

In the UK at the minute prices are at around 95pence per litre which I think converts to around $7.30 and that's normal prices and its a lot more in places. Here in Europe its just over $6 a gallon. We aren't actually complaining at that.

i was just watching the news and seeing everyone running out of gas...that is insane...some places in florida have been without it for a couple days..

First we take it in the neck for California... so they can get power which turns out to be Enron manipulations.

And now it's we have to give up our gas and pay $5 a gallon and up so that the Gulf can have gas.... so that they can get gas, which will turn out to be... ?

i work at a gas station, i gotta put up with people bitching at me all fucking day now. i should get a raise based on the percentage of price increasing since i started working there. instead of 7 dollars an hour, i should be making 15...which would almost make it worht while to hear people bitch at me everyday about gas prices.

 

We didn't hit peak oil in the 70's. The US's oil peaked (1973), but not globally. Prices fell because they discovered a bonanza in the North Sea that put off the global peak another 20 years. Which is right about now...

In Duffield, VA it was about $3.29/gallon. Since this morning it has went down to 2.99. Most places around here are running out, it was luck I got any this morning.
