Hologram

A hologram of a candle will make it appear like a candle is there.

Can you illuminate a room with the hologram of a lit candle?

 

i doubt it. you can't really illuminate a room with an actual candle.

Why not? I picture it as an LCD display, probably even more lit than a candle
And is this real or hypothetical?

 

It was 9pm on a Saturday night.

Now that I think about it, a TV showing a lit room can illuminate a dark room.

So (if/when there is holographic TV), it should be able to do the same.
