staying home and trying to stay warm. and i have absolutely no idea what a figgy pudding would be (is it made out of figs?)
Mine's somewhat like a fruitcake, but with real dried fruit instead of those nasty artificially-colored fluorescent red and green bits, and instead of being baked, it's steamed in a mold. Mine's also liberally soaked in Gosling's Black Seal rum. This is one of mine from a few years ago. I think this one was mostly dried figs and raisins.
My grandmother (who was born in Scotland) made this every Christmas, and she was famous for pouring on the brandy to soak it. She would serve it with a special white sauce as I recall... Mom also made it but never as good as Grans!
How wonderful! I can imagine you have some very special holiday outfits to wear, dazzling the crowd as always! Visiting family and friends at the holidays is very cheerful and uplifitng. Even if it's just lifting the telephone and calling someone, do it! Brighten someone's day with a special call, visit or do it retro style - send a card in the mail!!!
