Yes that is stupid . The ship itself though is just a floating base ( if they stop the leaks! ) . Its the F35 Lightnings that will provide the punch and these are the first new fixed wing aircraft for the Navy in any numbers since the days of the Harrier. Politics apart we are an Island nation and as such we will always need a Navy presence . HMS Queen Elizabeth , once the teething troubles are sort will be part of that.
Its what is called the "Old Navy" and being stupid is what they prided themselves on. They were pioneers! On their way to Wall Street, and in a hurry.
