could hair being shorter in the front than on sides and back slow or hamper the dreading process?

No. | don't believe so. Why would you think it would? My front hair has naturally dreaded up faster then the stuff at the back of my head. The back of my head is a continual job of pulling apart matts and/or clumps of ratted hair.:)

no, b/c hair of any length( well like longer than 3 inches) will dread. My fronts dreaded faster than the backs, but my backs are bigger and tighter now. It will all dread in the end. so wear ur hair however it is. in other words. LET IT BE.
