My allergies are in an uproar because of the insane pollen count. Making things worse my kitty is shedding, and I've gotten quite a few spider and bug bites.
Imagine this thing shedding all over you:

Actually that picture is more than a year old, shes much bigger and fuzzier now. Anyhow all of this results in HUGE hives, and not being able to breathe. I can't take the normal allergy medications because I have anxiety disorder, anyone know of anything topical to treat hives, and anything without antihistimines that will open the sinus nicely?

I really dislike spiders to the most extreme degree possible. I don't think I like cats so much either. I did have one once. His name was Aries.

    Thanks Marie! :)

olhippie: is your persian male or female? I've been looking around these forums for someone with a female persian or himmy, I need to ask a few questions. :)

I had a cat nearly like yours! I think she was only half persian and she lived until she was 26 years old. The fur was hell to deal with in spring time!! Try to brush it as much as you can so she doesn't shed so much.

As for your hives, try some calamine lotion. It won't make ur hives go away but it would help lessen the itchiness if it's a problem. Or aloe vera??

Thanks butterflygal I shall give that a try. I tend to think my bellatrix is human half the time as well.

    Thanks bird, shes adorable!

Wow, olhippie, thats a beautiful cat! Before spaying her (if she wasn't spayed when you got her) did you find that she had a lot of heat problems? Bellatrix had tons, and upon getting her spayed we found out she had a fryable uterus and a hormonal imbalance. I've read this is common for himmys and persians, but I haven't heard that from anyone I know. I've also read that the problem can come from the breeder, which is unfortunate, because I was wanting to get another cat from the same breeder as I got Bella.

She went into heat once before I got her spade. But, the vet never mentioned any problems or anything so I guess she was OK.

We got that cat when she was 10 years old from an animal service. She was about to be put to sleep and she was just too beautiful to die. So we took her in and she stuck around for another 16 years.

She was also spayed and it made her really relax. Her favorite thing to do was laying around in the sun and roll in the grass. SHe also is very gentle. SHe would catch a bird to play with it and let it go. No killing insticts in that cat.

I think being spayed helped in that way.

Yeah, being spayed really relaxed bella, shes lost her prissy side, thank goodness. She now just likes to lounge, preferably on me or my sig other. :)

I had it done on a friday afternoon and went to Nashville the next day. Just a little soreness. That was 16 years ago.
