   Im trying to find out if the movie by mel gibson (apocalyptica?) If the solar eclipse in the movie is an actual event that did happen. And what date would it have fallen on?

   I haven't seen the movie. Not a Mel Gibson fan. However it wouldn't be hard to use existing footage of an eclipse and put some effects on it.
