Ahhh did you know that there is no record of a Captain by the name of Charles Johnson. His identity remains a complete mystery! Most agree that Charles Johnson was a pseudonym. Who he really was no one knows.

A cuneiform tablet dated a century after the invention of writing was discovered, containing a complaint that the new invention was ruining their children, who no longer bothered to memorize everything. Forty years of studies concluded that they were correct, that both the neurons in our brains and the republican party organize along the lines of a flock of chickens, making working memory all that much more important, and working memory has proven to be the only reliable measure of anyone's career potential, which is exactly what you'd expect in chickens.

Humanists have it all wrong, people are chickens, and need to be treated as chickens. Don't teach children how to read, make them memorize everything!

Did you know: Pirates did NOT wear eye patches because they were missing an eye. The Pirates who did wear eye patches did so in order to help adjust their eyes quicker when going between the bright deck of the ship and the dark below decks.

The average pirate might survive for five years, and famous pirates like Black Beard were engineers, often inventing their own style of warfare and going to elaborate lengths to bury their treasure. In general, the more corrupt a society becomes, the more often their own upper middle class resorts to extremes such as piracy, and England and Japan are two island nations, famous for their pirates. Sailors traveling to the new world would experience a kind of freedom and access to wealth that was unheard of in their own corrupt societies, making piracy all the more attractive.

Edward Teach, also known in some sources as Edward Thatch, is a very interesting individual. He was a Pirate who was mainly active around the early 1700's (specifically around 1716-1718).

Of course most people better knew him as Blackbeard.

He was 6'6', a giant at the time, and burned hemp in his beard when he went into battle, to intimidate his enemies. It required over 20 cutlass blows and half a dozen bullets to bring him down, and they hung his head on a pike for over a year. So, his mother felt loved.

The burnt hemp tactic was to intimidate his enemies both to scare them and ensure a low death rate because he actually didn't like killing people.

Pirate crews appreciate the sentiment, when it comes time to decide who to keelhaul.
