Hey guys... its is not that hard to find ANY kind of commune for ANYTHING that you are into go to google type in "intentional community" and go to ic.org. You can find durn near anything and lots of places are still in the "forming" process and need people. Yeah for whoever was talking about the Farm they are still open and they do this really neat camp-ish thing every year... you all should definitely check it out.

last I heard the farm was wanting to build low income housing out there (what was cervantes horse's name? that's what they plan on calling it I think). My dad grew up out there and he never wanted to eat beans again in his life:)

If you have SSI or other income all your "friends" will milk you dry. Last time we all went out there my dad's cousin was trying to get him hooked on heroin, knowing he had been on morphine during nam.

    Rocinante.

SO somehow your father's cousin trying to get your father hooked on heroin (bullshit to start with) was somehow the Farm's fault?

I think you need to get back with Rove to re-learn the ABCs of propaganda Lies. Your bullshit just doesn't hang together.

Now, don't get me wrong; it's not that I think you are lying. It's that I KNOW you are lying. I would sooner believe GWB about Iraq than I would you.

    peace, "brutha"

I was addressing another post here about having ssi income and living in a commune. If you get a big wad of cash and you're living around people w/o any money or ways to get it and they have drug habits that ssi money is gone. not the farm's doing, individual action on the part of my dad's cousin, which by the way is the same thing that happens all over, I see it all the time here, these junkies come around whoever moves in here and get all buddy buddy w' them and + turn them on then they're strung out and start buying; lose their apts and so on. they tried it w' me the first day I moved here.
Perhaps you are living a very protected life that's all. I've seen a lot of shit in my day.

In five years I'm picking up and hitting the road to travel...I may have some folks with me, or maybe not...but I'll certainly be looking for some of these to spend some time in along the way. Maybe even settle in one.

Umm well it looked to me like you were trying to lay some blame where it doesn't belong. If I misread, I apologize...but, ya know, if you are going to answer someone, quote them so as
    to minimize just such errors.

I've seen a thing or two in my day as well. Like the time I got popped for hitchhiking in Castle Rock, Colorado, where I got 3 days, fasted for all of them for political reasons, got out, met a couple German freaks with some Czech acid, and I peaked on the Continental Divide. That actually started a 4 month adventure that involved my first mescaline in Arizona and ended up in Blaine, Washington. Anyways... my current life would likely appear to be VERY sheltered to many here.

Ok, now I know to quote; didn't mean to confuse. Castle rock? isn't that around colorado springs? you could get popped there, military conservative type town.
people I've known have told me that they had to work so much in those communes that they were wiped out. I mean all the ones I know of they don't farm anymore but rather do workshops and stuff. I don't know.

I'd like to get out of mainstream society myself. Anyone want to throw something together and I'm down. Some dude mentionned wanting to start a nomadic tribe. I thought that would be neat. Little harder to grow food though I would imagine. But where theres a will theres a way. I got the will. I really got it. BAD.

the problem so often with a colony is that folks easily drop the "y" and we end up with a colon

I know that farming ends up being a lot more work than one would expect it to be.

I would LOVE to do this. I mean, I don't think I'd complain about working sunup to sundown to get out of mainstream society.

That's probably not happening, since that poster hasn't been here in over 6 years.
