its true the dreams not all hers, so what/? is a shared dream less of a dream? or more?
do u think i want a theater just for me? i have no talent at all, ineed no stage..
the dream was someone elses before we even knw about it but theyd given up on it..me & woodstock talked about it & her excitement over it gave me the inspiration totry..
its not me & woodstock alone working on it either, but a dozen or more..plusall of you who are supportive of it.
there are others sharing in the dream right now looking for 200 acres near there to add tothe dream..
so its not just her dream so what? we're people who think more communaly anyway, for the good of all. not just a dreamof becomming a famouse movie maker & getting rich, but of doing something good for many people

So what can we do to help?
I mean, besides adding her on MySpace, 'cause I've already done that, lol...

well, u can wait till her cd isready & get a copy for a donation, but i supose if your in a hurry you can make a donation sooner ;) i do stil need to setup an account to accept donations into though, other then that spread the word, actualy the building itself is incredibly cheap for such a large building in such a beautiful location. and has a space for both indoor & outdoor stages.
and in the 1st few months after we get it, i guess we could use help physicaly working on getting it fixed up a bit, mostly the second floor which will bethe school.
but we do have a dedicated local group who i believe will be willing to help as well.
if you wish to be more directly involved pm me & we'll talk

Oh, and WoodstockChild - best of luck! Even if you don't succeed, you'll probably have a hell of a time in the process! :)

I am upset to see so much discouragement (I am referring to the negative comments here, obviously). So what if this ends up never happening? Should we be afraid to dream and try something new for a change? Could you imagine how behind we would be if our ancestors never tried to reach their goals? None of you know what will and will not happen, even if you have your predictions. I think you're better off just being supportive and saying "well, I wish you luck" than trying to bring everyone down. Also, what is so wrong with eagle being the fuel for this plan? He just wants to bring something good into the world, and honestly, I don't think that's too much to ask for. WSC, good luck, and I feel you are a very talented person who will go far.

well, just had a long interesting talk with woodstocks mentor, & mom as well, we didnt get into the details of when the cd's would be ready, fairly soon though, but we did talk alittle about the goal of having the theater ready to go by may or sooner.
she has 1 or 2 more days of work she needs to put into the cd before turning everything over to her freind whos actualy taking care of getting them ready to be sent out. sothe next steps going to depend on however long it takes him to get everything done, but could be in the next cople weeks or so possibly.
ishould be talking to the current owner of the theater tomorow or the next day as well.
things are progressing nice & smoothly, & we're trying to not rush things. as is, most likely the first shows there wont be till mid summer because theres so much to do in the meantime, but things are getting done pretty quickly.
much appreciation to all the folks from missourri rainbow family who have been a great help in getting the ball rolling from theyre end.
we would have a much harder time making this happen without your help
& i also want to show my appreciation to the many bands & musicians who have shown such great support not only to woodstocks music & vission, but also to the theater.
oh & ofcourse to all of you who have supported this here..
we're all making this happen together..

we have no set timetable at this point, just a rough goal, if possible, the 1st outdoor show mid to late may, & depending on exactly how long it takes to get the indoor space ready, the 1st indoor/outdoor shows possibly as soon as august.
i believe these are realisticly acheivable goals, however its dependent on many unknown factors still, so if its sooner, or later then that, just rest assured we are working our asses off every day to make it happen quickly, while still making sure we take enough time to get everything done just right.
(theres a possibility that we may also be able to eventualy have camping space as well, but thats still in the ideas being tossed around stage as far as i know)

this won't happen in a week or a month, but if the excitement keeps spreading like it has been i think in 3 months we'll have made significant progress, so keep checkin this thread for updates.
we're about 2-3 days away from the final steps that need to be taken care of to get her cd ready., however long those final steps take are kinda out of our hands but shouldnt take too long.
i've probly written too much here, so i'll wrap it up with this
if you liked any of the 4 songs she has on her myspace, then you will absolutely love the rest of the cd..& just as a lil teaser, i'll tell you the cd includes her version of redemption songs..sung with such passion..that the legend himself would be proud.
but no matter how good her blues reggae or folk songs are, i think its her amazing lyrics in her protest songs that will have the most inspirational impact.

    what can i say..i'm a fan :)

hope to have more updates in a few days or so.

it's been a lot of time since my last visit to this site so i read this, and then listened to your music. i found your music a breathe of fresh air. your voice is very impressive, so you remind me of melanie safka (i hate comparisons, but this spirituality you bring to us recalls her). yeah, you got energy, and i hope you have a wider recognition. please tell us the evolution of the recordings!

Oh, and about a festival you mentioned once, i give you all my support. know it for sure! :)

I liked Woodstockchild's version of Mr. Tambourine Man better than Melanie's.

@ WoodStockChild: Maybe you wanna try your hand and esp. your voice at Ruby Tuesday? It's such a beautiful song, and Melanie's rendition is so powerful and emotional, it has brought me to tears many times. I was thinking maybe you could do it even better. :)

ya all should hear her cover of marleys "one drop"
probly th best cover of it ever, but screw covers, her songs shes written herself are where her real power lies..she could probly do a cover of just about anyone, & come near to or surpass the greatness of th original..but her real gifts when she combines her amazing voice with her amazing lyrics that are so soulfull & passionate
i'm not sayin i dont love her covers, i mean they really impress me..but anyone can cover anyone..but to write songs so meanningful is very rare these days.

Well, the good, deep, emotionally powerful music that is made nowadays usually doesn't reach the radio. Doesn't mean it's not there. ;)

And I partially agree with your comment about covers. What makes a great artist is his or her ability to WRITE great songs; more than his or her ability to play great songs written by someone else. On the other hand, if you look at Ruby Tuesday, I only like Melanie's cover of it. The Stones' and Dylan's versions don't do anything to me at all. Her slight alteration of the melody and of course her voice lift it to such great heights. And that is an incredible accomplishment.

there is still music that operates on a deep and meaningful level... and it's first intended to be so... i mean that we can find good music on airplay, but most of the music played on it is just hypocritical. people when reaching fame turns to be overproud of their sellings. fame usually turns them into gadgets, products of the industry of music. yes, for sure there're some famous people on the top that deserve a recognition... but they tend to do things for money, not for their "love" and passion for music... i hate it.

ps: my radio looks like dust, hahaha!

I agree very much, it's what you do with the original song. Not anyone can cover anyone good.
