The virus sure has made history. Olympics 2021 is really Olympics 2020. Olympics 2022 is really Olympics 2021. Considering that the Olympics is nearly biblical (in our society at least... I wonder what the IOC's plans are for introducing the next games. What will the hype cover? Will Covid-19 be mentioned? Will there be a monument?

 

a proper holiday is a dirt road in a forest, or a narrow gauge railway winding through one.
i can't even imagine what it is, that attracts people to cities, tropical climates, or making it legally and economically difficult to build or live in non-rectangular architecture.
florida? greece? not even. maybe the train to mallag if i lived in great britain, or vancouver island or even ashland oregon from where i live in northern nevada.
i still thing nepal needs a little train like the darjeeling from there to khatmandu. now that would be a vacation if there was such a thing.
hiking the pacific crest trail. that would be good. live for a week someplace where you have to pack everything it and what you don't consume back out.
i'd be fine with lifting some of the restrictions on what individual persons can do in national parks, as long as they didn't start forest fires or scare away and disrupt other species migration patterns,
what need to NOT be allowed, are resource extraction leases.

if people want to watch each other run around naked next to a big lake or an ocean or something, that's ok for them,
but that's really my idea of kind of boring to me. sorry. and hot weather gives me hives or whatever you want to call it, prickly heat. seriously not fun nor amusing.
moss and lichen and fungi growing on rocks and trees are far more fascinating then anything crawling up a beach.

of course a proper vacation is also about not having to be in a hurry about anything, but that doesn't mean not being able to continue to move freely and easily,
riding on some sort of quiet unobtrusive mechanical conveyance.

i think the only thing that would be different about a vacation from how i would want to just live all the time, is the travel.
and riding on something from which you can actually see everything. i mean interesting things, like trees and caves and the occasional non-domestic creatures.
