I am voting for Ron Paul, even though it really is the people that count the votes that decides who wins. Sometimes I wonder why I should even waste my time though; even if he does get the most votes, he won't win because the media (and the federal reserve) controls everything, and Ron Paul scares them. Why would they want to live in a world where they didn't run the show??? The don't want us to know what is really going on behind the scenes, and he is the ONLY one who will speak up about it.

There is some truth to that - the assumption in democracy that there is a general good or will of the people that can be derived from majority decisions, instead of a collection of selfish, short-term interests....

You've answered my initial question, indirectly. There's always been a strong tinfoil hat brigade on these forums. Now I see it's the conspiracy constituency that's fuelling the Ron Paul fan club here....

Ron Paul is only leading in 4 states and everywhere else he is coming in on the bottom, it is sad that people waste their votes on stupid garbage. I know that we can't always have a decent choice but then it comes down to the lesser of two evils. McCain or Romney will get the rep nomination. I was surprised Huckabee got as far as he did, but Paul got smoked because his Iraq war stance clearly shows he isn't capable of running the world's most powerful military. Plus in his ads that say as an ER Dr he never turned anyone away, he had no choice, so it wasn't like he did anything special....kinda like saying "I ain't ever really done anything worth talking about but I have better sounding lies than my opposition." His PR guy should be fired. He could have had a chance but sat in the shadows in many states like here in NH.

I missed the primary but I will be voting for whoever is the GOP nominee. Obama and Clinton are typical lying liberals who haven't kept their promises where they are, nevermind as Pres, why should we think they would start now? The ammount of legislation to do what he suggests would never happen. It isn't like the Pres makes the rules....like everything so far has been voted on by the house and senate, the pres is just a puppet for the organization.

I can relate to you on some point. I mean, who do we hand those votes off to? Who counts them? Who ultimately decides who is president?

No offense, but I think maybe you should spend some time doing some research online instead of believing everything you hear on the news. Yeah, I'm pretty positive he won't be our next president, but still I would never vote for someone just because everyone else is...that kind of defeats the whole purpose.

I think Obama is our best bet, even though I don't really like any of the candidates. I hate all the republicans and I'm not a big fan of Hillary or Obama but I'd have to choose Obama out of them. I hope there are other reasons people like Ron Paul so much besides his views on marijuana. I would never vote for someone like him who denies the existence of global warming. But then again, I'll only be 17 this coming election so I'll leave it up to the rest of you...

Apologies if that was sarcastic, but I doubt that John Lennon would really be all in favour of someone who opposes gun control.

Now that it is down to three candidates...can we start over with totally new candidates? It is going to be like voting for the lesser of the evils.

yes, i do wish the three were kussenich, gravelle and ron paul. we may end up having to start over as a country or even as a hemisphere. i'm not suggesting doing so by force though. i think internal corruptions will take care of that on its own in due course.

in truth of course we don't really KNOW anything about any of them.

only that when it gets this close to down to the wire, for as long as i've lived, they've been pretty thoroughly preselected by the corporatocracy who we get to choose between.

but there is still a choice of who we might think most likely to be able to slip their corporate master's leash and by how much.

which is why, at this point, my hopes are on obama. even from the bigining i considered him an interesting possible. back then i considered hillary one too.
and either of them would of course be better then what we've had for 8 years, and better then what the other side of the isle has offered up as well. but how much better, we will only ever be able to judge in histories hind sight once they've taken the oath.

lets just hope they take it more honestly and seriously then anyone in the past 30 years has.

i for one do not believe, that an honestly and accurately informed and educated populas, would have have ever voted for what has come ironicly to be called conservatism, (which seems to pretty much mean attacking the constitution and tearing it to shreds), for anything, even local dog catcher.

Well, my vote is going to go to Barack Obama--I mean, sure--Hillary says she has more experience, and McCain says he's got more foreign affairs know-how (or so he says)--but to be honest, Hillary comes across to me as a stuck-up snob (and who wants that in the White House? LOL), and McCain strikes me as a whiner (and we don't need that in the White House either!)--not to mention the fact that they both say pretty much the same stuff that all the others have said--and besides, in my opinion, I don't think that the Republicans stand that much of a chance of winning the White House after all the damage that Bush has done! Anyway, I think Barack Obama is probably the best candidate for the position--he seems like a pretty intelligent guy, and what I like is that he comes across as human--something the other two don't seem to be able to do!

Well, I put Ron Paul & here's why:

    1) Regardless of his pro-life & odd global warming stance, he believes that the majority should have the voice.

    2) I am tired of people acting like the constitution is a "suggestion".

    3) Gun rights mean equality with our government & if you think the government is superior, tell me why the are nothing but free from error. (Hello! Patriot Act! I'd like to have a right to a firearm if they can bust in my house & detain me based on NOTHING.)

    4) The Federal Reserve is a corrupt system.

    5) I'm not saying that 9/11 was an inside job directly, but there is evidence that just doesn't add up, & Ron Paul believes the same.

Paul, Kucinich (sp?), or the VERY ignored Gravel.

Also, I don't think Hillary is stuck up that's ignorant. She has pride & she knows that this whole ridiculous system is a game & she knows how to play it.

Damn, if she won at least we'd have decent health care. But ooooo, socialism. Scaryyyy. Man, the government already has the control, it doesn't matter what brand you stick on it.

Also, Barack Obama is like the media's golden boy. There is an agenda there, no doubt. Plus, who insults poor people??? Ignorant. He is all talk.

& lastly, McCain isn't "whiny" I freakin' hate these backless generalizations. He was a P.O.W., for godssake! That's a hardcore tragedy that would affect a man the rest of his life. Now, granted, not for the positive, I heard him say he wanted to stay in Iraq for a 100 years? Bomb Iran? Voted for the Patriot Act even when everyone said it has served it's purpose (supposed to be TEMPORARY)? This man lost his power & he wants it back, he'd start a world war in a millisecond & if he gets voted in IT'S TIME FOR A REVOLUTION.

George Carlin doesn't vote. He has a big long comentary about it on one of his dvd's.

I haven't voted since Bush/Dole vs Clinton/Gore. Nobody up there represents people like me and I refuse to take part in the charade any longer.

If i were to vote though, I would most like go with William Redpath from the liberatarian party. I read an interview with him in playboy where he said, if he were elected, in his first 100 days he would pardon all non-violent drug offenders from ferderal prisons. Sounds good to me.

NONE OF THE ABOVE for me.

in the end, its silly not to vote. if you don't vote you don't have room to be bitching and moaning, because by not voting you're pretty much throwing your hands up and giving up; you're not participating or helping at all. Besides, whats the harm in voting anyways?

No, by not voting, I am choosing not to invest my energies in a corrupt, dishonest, broken system that is unrepresentational of all but the most powerful, richest classess of the world. I am refusing to perpetuate the myth of freedom under the cloak of oppression and control.

Republicrats and demicans are both a joke, both pretending that one party is less evil than the other while shreading the constitution and making a mockery of the constitutional republic upon which it it was founded. I abstain from voting as a concientious statement that I will not take part in a scam. That I demand a better choice than the white collar criminals being offered to us by the established cartel. I abstain for the same reason I don't watch pro wrestling. It's just not real.

Go ahead and vote if it makes you feel like you are making a difference. I choose not to vote for the same reason.

    Much love and peace
