Most politicians are liars in one way or another...it's the only way they ever get elected in the first place. The sad thing is that the public would never vote for an honest person; everyone wants to hear the same old lies about creating jobs, balancing the budget, cutting government waste, getting tough on crime, etc., etc. Seriously, how long have we been hearing all that shit? 5. I'm not getting into whether or not she broke the law. I posted the law, and I posted what Comey said she did. It's black and white. She broke the law.

You're ridiculous because you say if I question whether or not there are certain people in this country who are above the law, I am somehow a tyrannical dictator who wants my opinions forced upon everyone else.

I am aware of the FBI and the Justice Department's decision. I did watch Comey's speech on the matter live. And what was made extremely clear was that, at the least, she was grossly negligent with classified information in all of the ways that the law describes as violations of the law. I don't think I know more about the law than the FBI or Justice Department, but perhaps I care more about it than they do.

    Interesting answer.

How would they be above the law? Is the system broken? I'll ask again, do you think the FBI is corrupt and they are not prosecuting Hillary because she is above the law?

So she was negligent, which is not a criminal act in this case and which is highly debatable since her server was never hacked and numerous government ones were.

And then again you claim she acted in " ways that the law describes as violations of the law. " Even though you aren't going to discuss whether she broke the law.
And even though the FBI says she didn't.

And now you seem to claim that the FBI is negligent in that perhaps they don't really care about the law!

Again, you are aware that the FBI states no crime was committed, yet you claim there was.
You claim the FBI doesn't care.
You understand that she was negligent in ways that the law describes as unlawful...but the FBI doesn't seem to know or care about that.

  7. Am I not making myself clear enough? Yes, they are corrupt. Princeton even conducted a study that concluded that we are no longer living in a democracy but an oligarchy. The whole system is crooked and caters to the super wealthy and elite. One law for them. Another law for us.

According to the law I posted, and from Comey's statements, it is plain as day that she did break the law and was grossly negligent with classified material, removing it from its proper place and safeguards. Comey let Hillary off on the grounds that she had no intention of breaking the law, which really has nothing to do with anything. His speech was basically a declaration of oligarchy in the USA, that different laws apply to different classes. The whole point is for him to contradict his own words, to put us commoners in our places and drive that sad fact home.

Yes, unequivocally our entire system is broken and corrupt and no, I don't place any faith in the FBI to ultimately do their jobs or the Justice Department to do theirs.

The Presidential debates are September 26, October 9 and October 19, with a Vice-Presidential debate on October 4. I'm expecting one of them to meltdown, but I'm not sure which one. I tend to think Hillary would kick his ass, but lately I've come to question her stability. If she can't handle the stress of campaigning how can she handle the stress of being President? And the alternative is Donald Trump who can't handle being President, period.

    Do you?

You seem to have a child-like faith in the righteousness of the established law enforcement structure. It's like you have this image of the FBI as being like boy scouts, but just bigger. You actually believe that they fight for truth, justice, and the American way, don't you?

Sounds like you're attempting to rope Neo with the old tried and true conspiracy-nut lasso.

The FBI's job isnt to determine whether or not Hillary committed a crime, but to examine the evidence and make a recommendation as to whether or not prosecution should pursue charges against her.

They did not recommend charges based on the fact that they did not think any prosecutors would want to touch the case.

This does not mean she irrefutably did not commit a crime, within the letter or spirit. She would have to go to trial to make this determination.

One thing that has always bothered me about the email scandal, and excuse me if I've said this before - but I work in healthcare, and we would never be able to use our own server to access PHI (protected health information). And every year we go through HIPAA training to reiterate that being negligent with PHI is not only a fireable offense but we can be held criminally responsible as well.

So it does surprise me that healthcare has higher standards of privacy and security than the state department.

    I know you're being sarcastic.

But there actually IS a lot of corruption in government, and there isn't a lot of accountability for it. I think the government and corporate donors are so far removed from the average American and so reluctant to work in our interests that it can be difficult to believe in the goodness in any element of bureaucracy.

Thats not to say all government is bad - obviously the government isn't a single entity, it is comprised of the thousands of people who work within its realm - some are probably rotten to the core, some are merely weak or apathetic or powerless, and some are good.

But overall I'm not sure why you're so surprised at the level of disillusionment found in this thread.

I don't find it hard to wake up in the morning because politics arent everything and I'm perfectly able to tune it out and enjoy the things that actually matter..

And yet, I do grow more and more frustrated with the American political theatre of the absurd with each passing year. It isn't just a Hillary issue to me or a Trump issue, right, left, blue, red, whatever...all I really see is all the actors on stage in the theatre of the absurd have failed us and served their corporate masters. This is the lens through which I view America - we are the United States of the banking industry, of big oil, big pharma, anything that makes money.

You think Hillary Clinton will save us from Donald Trump but all I see is the TPP being passed in a lame duck session of Congress so Hillary can slide into presidency after it's too late, pretending she was against it even though she once called it the gold standard of trade deals. I see the US's involvement in Syria, which disturbs me greatly and maybe would disturb others if the media would do their fucking job and report on it in detail, continuing as it has been, I see the media continuing to be a mouthpiece for the two parties instead of their watchdog, I see the Sioux Nation possibly losing their battle against the oil industry and countless lost battles following. I see more doctors bills on top of the 4 grand I already owe because my work switches to a high deductible plan next year and Hillary thinks our healthcare system is fine and Obamacare is working. Oh and between her campaign and super PACs she's received over 7 million from the pharmeceutical industry so cheap drugs will remain a pipe dream.

Anyways. An overly sincere reply to a sarcastic, hyperbolic remark, maybe this will help you understand why some are so distrusting and hopeless?

I got a surprise this month too. We are switching to a new insurance company at work also, effective next month. They tried to snow us under by saying that now the cost of our prescription medications will be applied to our deductibles...then last week I find out that I will be paying 250% more per month for those medications. Great deal isn't it? One drug I take costs $1300 for 30 damn pills. The generic is over $900. ObamaCare hasn't made anything cheaper for me at all; it should be repealed. [IMG]
