Hi I'm Kaitlin and I'm new to the board. I've come here to get information and also talk about my most favorite thing...smoking. Puff puff give...
Welcom pandiebeer You join me and MattinVegas as the only Vegas residents to my knowledge. I just moved here (bout 2 weeks ago) and haven't met any other smokers yet. So how long ya lived here?
I moved here about a year and a half ago. I came from SouthBend / Mishawaka, Indiana. I lived down the street from Notre Dame (didn't go there though except to rollerblade). I was born and raised in Massachusetts, so I'm a New Englander at heart. Vegas, or being out west, is totally new and exciting for me. Last week I was in California which was awesome. There is so much to do in Las Vegas though. What area do you live in? I started out living on like the edge of Summerlin in apartments that were near Buffalo and Lake Mead Blvd. Las July though I moved to Summerlin near Sahara and the 215w. They're building a new casino where we live, Red Rock Station. This city is in a construction frenzy!
I moved here with my folks (I know, 20 and still at home). Were in the Northwest part of Vegas, north of Summerlin (which I drove around and looked really nice) I believe. The Santa Fe casino is like 5 minutes away. It's very surreal living so close to a freaking casino. There's tons to do here I'm sure, but I'm still a couple of months short of 21, so its frustrating. I haven't gotten a job yet either, but the search continues tomorrow.
It took me 6 months to find a job and I applied eveywhere. Then it was like as soon as I got one, they were everywhere. At one point I was working with a hiring agency and she told me people in this town are just really slow when it comes to employment. They go through applications slowly, interwiew for a long time, etc. The nice thing is that they have job fairs all the time at some casinos. I was a little picky though about getting the right job so I only applied for what I wanted to be doing, and even though it took a while, I got it. I can't imagine turning 21 in Vegas. Tht should be fun! Mostly I can't believe all of the bands that come here for concerts. Even that they host award shows here. I went to the Billboard Music Awards both times since I've been here just because I could. It's crazy -and fun!
Thanks for the welcome. I'm having a great time online here. There's so much good information and encouragement.
