HID vs. LED Grow (1000w DualArc HID vs. Magnum+ vs. Apollo 10 vs. Penetrator 336x)

Each light is at 30 inches abouve the tops of the pots. I will measure PAR values of each room tomorrow as well as spectral output of each light...

 

Plants have been in the individual rooms now for 2 days... I had to back off the HID by 5 inches because it was burning the plants. Ph issues are present so I will be obtaining a new ph / ppm meter on Monday to fix that issue. So far the Magnum+ is looking the best and the Apollo 10 is looking pretty good also. The 336x plants seem to be the same and the HID plants got some heat damage. Watered yesterday and just fed them now. Here come the pics...

OK so it looks like the death of the HID room for now... it is way to hot in there and the plants are dying so I am shutting it down and salvaging the surviving plants and placing them into the LED rooms. As you can see in the pics below, death by HID was only a matter of time! The heat is just too extreme here right now for the 1000w so I will do another grow in the fall when it cools down with the 1000w up against the LEDs.

So now on to the PAR readings of each of these units... Even though the HID is gone I still took the PAR reading of it also. Each reading was done in the center of the respective light's footprint at 30" from the lens. The readings were done with an apogee MQ-200.
