    I'm not one for giving these long biographical accounts in these kinds of thread. Feels like I'm giving a speech. You'll find out about me, as I learn about you, through the conversations I hope to have with you all.

    I'll give a few details though. I live in southern CT, I love rock and roll music (specifically the so called "punk" and new wave bands that formed in NYC, the UK, and LA from the mid to late 70's, as well as 60's garage rock) and I want to start a band.

    My ambition right now is to hone my musicianship to the point of competency (I only started to learn how to play guitar less than a year ago), form a band, and see where it goes. I know I'm a late starter but I'm going to give it my best.

    I also enjoy writing, but with music I feel like I can take a more active and physical role in the spreading of my ideas. Richard Hell said something about rock and roll being a more attractive alternative to sitting alone in a room and writing poetry that maybe twelve people might actually read and those sentiments ring true with me.

    Not that I'm finished with writing, but music seems to occupy more and more of my time these days.

    That's enough for now. I'm just happy to be here!

    Hey there Share the Warmth;
    Very well written intro....I'm a guitarist and have been playing for over 30 years....Allow me to extend the welcome mat….I know what it’s like to be a newcomer….You don’t really know what to say or how to act….Read some of the threads so you can get the gist of what topics are being discussed….When you feel comfortable jump right in and get your feet wet….Nobody here is going to "Flame" you (unless it’s necessary) lol….We get some assholes here who just want to stir up bad vibes and there are several (they remain unnamed).…From what I’ve found so far is that we are one big family with many brothers and sisters….Once again the doors open come on in, open up your heart and mind, put on some groovy tunes, kick back and stay awhile….Peace, Love & Great Big Hugs….DDR

    hey, loved your bio

    im very much into music and writing too, my aim is to be a music journalist (nice little combo of both i was thinking). although i must say i prefer indie music to garage music, but dont judge me as a "teenage scene kid", im very open minded when it comes to music (except rap and rnb... i dislike those majorly).

    what kind of things do you write about? what kind of band would you make? i tried to learn the guitar for a year, but my attention span couldnt hack it. respect for keeping at it. tell me more details, im curious (ahar.... bi-curious... no... not funny) xxx

    Hey, sorry I haven't responded in awhile. I've been in Boston, visiting friends.

    The band I envision forming would probably draw heavy influences from bands like The Heartbreakers, The NY Dolls, X, The Stooges, Chuck Berry, The Kinks, The Talking Heads The Rolling Stones, Television, and THE DEAD BOYS!!!! The Dead Boys are one of my favorite bands at the moment. I also really appreciate Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and those other blues guys.

    I haven't gotten into much indie stuff to be honest, but I'm willing to give most bands a try, just like you said.

    So you want to be a music journalist? That's something I should look into as well. May as well merge two of my passions. One music writer I really love to read is Lester Bangs. Check him out if you haven't!

    As for writing, I haven't been doing much of it lately, but I'm into short fiction mostly, mainly writing stories dealing with small town or suburban youth. I like to write somewhat dark and cynical stuff. I'm great at writing characters, but I usually don't put the work in to develop a great story. So I often end up having these fairly well written characters that don't do much.

    Anyway, I think it's great you're so into music! Rock and roll is one of the greatest causes to devote your time, mind, and energy into in my opinion. My goal at the moment is to get a band going and become a part of rock history, if even a footnote (or not even, just playing local shows would be okay with me too).

    Hail, hail rock and roll!

    Funny thing about the guitar. I took about 10 days off to visit friends in Boston but when I came back, I had trouble catching up for all of maybe 20 minutes and then I was playing better than ever. I guess in this case, a break did me some good.

    FYI, here are a couple sites I use for downloading Chords, Lyrics and Tabs....I find that Ultimate Guitar is the best, as it has the option of including a separate chord chart along with the song....Enjoy and build up those calluses….DDR
