I heard this not even ten minutes ago on VH1's documentary "the drug years" and ive got to say it's a crock. While Leary was quite manipulative, he was pretty much a genius.

 

It takes a genius to make an effective manipulator. .

 

The hippies didn't have it nearly as hard as African Americans who we're protesting for something much more important at the time. And had been for the past 15 years.

The responce from the government wasn't really huggable either.
