Hey all, I'm Louise a barefooter from UK and I have loved reading through this site as a guest I thought I'd sign up. Never really knew barefooting had a decent online presence. I'm an avid barefooter and my feet have been constantly bare for the last 5 years just entering my 6th, I no longer own shoes or socks. I love hiking with my family and walking around barefoot.
And is it cold in the UK? When we went, it rained. Like as soon as we set foot off the plane... pissing.
True enuff. We love going barefoot and embrace other barefooters. We don’t always agree, we hiss and spit, and we usually mean well. Going barefoot is totally amazing; just use what passes for common sense in your neighborhood! Other neighborhoods may not apply!
Good, people are still finding this place. I found those barefoot running articles that were popular several years ago and something I searched lead me here when a forum topic came up in search results. Got the idea from those articles of lets see if I can make my feet tougher but then after I adapted to going barefoot I hated wearing shoes and not feeling the ground. That part I did not expect. Barefoot is better and now as a hobby I try and pay my discovery forward and bust the great 'you need shoes' scam by posting pro barefoot stuff online. Shoe people, lol, watching them try and get across the beach parking lot barefoot and every little pebble is a tragedy, the world needs to know go barefoot for two weeks and natural ability to navigate barefoot lost from a lifetime in shoes quickly returns. Welcome to the forum !!
Hi there Louise, I'm Steffy a 24/7/365 barefooter down in Auckland, New Zealand...weather is pretty good all year round for going without shoes. Winters are super mild, and summers pleasantly hot. Havent had shoes on my feet for many. many years - nor do my kids wear shoes. Welcome to the site
Hey : ) I originally joined this site looking for new Zealanders to befriend because I visit here. South Island though. You're fortunate because this country thinks barefooting is normal. I love how often I see barefoot kids, even when the parent is in shoes. In the UK people would freak out about that. Like Oooh nooo the kids might hurt their feet.
Welcome to the forum, always great to hear there’s more of us in the UK What got you started and are you able to work in bare feet?
Salutations, new guy. Yeah, about that... I started snow walking about a decade back, and from personal experience I can tell you this: All temperatures, where water remains in a liquid state are manageable. When it gets to the 0 - +5 Celsius range (32-41 Fah), you'll start feeling a tad chilly, especially if there's strong wind, and puddles of water start becoming more challenging. But dressed up otherwise properly, you should be fine. However, once things start to freeze, you'll be racing against the clock. You can definitely walk barefoot in snow, you just can't do it indefinitely. Let's just say that you don't wanna stay in -10 C (14 Fah) for longer than few minutes. Your paws will start feeling very numb right quick. Just one of those things, where you can't beat physics.
I walk around the office building barefoot lady says to me you're going to get a staple in your foot and Batman says "Staples are made of iron and I kick Iron Mans butt so what so what"
Staples ? I've been walking over 20 meters of broken beer bottles (in Rome) , took thumb tacks in the toes, shards of rock, metal splinters, rock splinters, goatheads the size of beans, my dirtbike has alligator footrests and i ride the mofo offroad and through the thick of woods, I can outpace shod people over terrain that could cripple a horse and run and make skids over rough gravel without even noticing. I'm sure that any barefooter can stand.. stupid staples . hahah. tenderfoot whiners lol
