I more meant candidates with the backing of one of the two major parties, since the American electoral system is set up to make it next to impossible for anyone outside of those parties to win (or even take part in debates). Even assuming that they were all serious candidates with a chance of winning, they still make up a tiny percentage of candidates.

Also, I don't think that it is a stretch to assume that, historically, women would not receive votes solely on the basis of being women (given that women have only been allowed to vote since 1920).

I have rarely seen someone who claims to hate the polarisation and division in your society argue so divisive about stuff like feminism, social policies, moderate muslim immigrants etc. than you. I would hope its just an irresistable urge to charge your points, and in former threads you admitted it was partly that indeed, but the way you try to defend your faulty (and divisive) points on these matters when someone points it out indicate you have some sort of agenda to just continue with it. If Democrats are going to claim to be supportive of the metoo movement, they have to take all claims of a powerful politician making a woman uncomfortable seriously. You cant condemn behavior for Republicans and accept it for Democrats.

I used to work with an old man who would come up and rub my shoulders. It was creepy and extremely uncomfortable, and he didnt even resort to sniffing my hair...the thought of that makes my skin crawl.
i guess it's easy for another older man to dismiss such behavior but for some of us it is reflective of a systemic problem in how men have treated women in the professional world
