A stereotype of a "writer" as idealized by 16 year olds who jack off to Fear and Loathing.

What's even worse ... than his face ... huh? How does his genetic makeup in terms of aesthetics or the people who rip off his books reflect on the man himself? You guys seem awfully intimidated by smart British people.

What's so bad about beating it to Hunter Thompson.
He was the only journalist to write just about himself.

"Instead of covering current topical issues, I will write about the time I took a handful of acid."

Well, I do jack off at my own image in the mirror, so I'm really not one to judge.

i honestly don't think i've ever really had a hero.

but if we're talking about people we admire...pretty much every selfless humanitarian. and a couple hardened criminals i shouldn't have.

I never said he wasn't a very bright individual, I said he shouldn't get completely smashed before he writes.

Also that I despise most of the people that read one of his articles and believe themselves to be clever because they know Mother Teresa was a bitch.

Fair enough, but he was open minded enough to not accept the status quo that she was a saint and willing to do the travel and research to prove that she was a miserable human being. Though you seem to have it out for his readers, I don't think I should be penalized for learning from all his effort, you can be fairly sure that he's not bullshitting because so many people are out to prove him wrong and they can't manage to do so on anything he's printed as far as I've seen. (I could be missing something admittedly)

He WAS ballsy enough to visit all three "axis of evil" countries and there's something to be said about that. He's the only writer to do so I believe, what if journalism wasn't able to pierce the heavily guarded borders of these places because everyone was too scared? He seems to be after the truth and I admire that, therefore I list him as a hero.

And if he's awake, he's sloshed so when the hell is he supposed to write? Even more impressive that he's such a functional alcoholic IMO.

If I got much bigger it would eliminate a lot of potential female partners. I could definitely tighten up a bit though, but I don't take it that seriously anyway.

it has nothing to do with scared, it's an enormous pain in the ass for journalists to get into north korea, iran, etc. BECAUSE they're journalists, and most papers (or media outlets) think it's a waste of money to go through that suffering to send someone else if they already have someone there (or an AP feed)

nothing to do with ballsy, just means he can afford it, and he either has the patience to deal with the paperwork, and to be the bitch of their information services, or he has someone who works for him who has that patience. and he can be a bitch to their servces.
