I thought that story seemed familiar then looked at the date the story was published going all the way back to June 2014

 

.... And the pig becomes a breakfast treat !!!

 

Yeah, the underlying message is that pigs make loyal pets of value who can be useful in such scenarios.

There is also a 2016 article of a pig named Theodore who similarly saved his sleeping human owners from fire, though the pig himself unfortunately succumbed to death through asphyxiation.

A pig named Lulu had similarly saved the life of her owner Jo Ann Altsman, when she suffered a near fatal heart attack.

Realizing that Jo had suffered from a heart attack, the pig left the house to the road nearby , attracted attention from passing motorists and led them back to her stricken owner in the house. This brought much needed medical attention from medics who came to the house shortly.

Lulu became a much-appreciated celebrity. In addition to being awarded the Tiffany gold hero's medal from the American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Lulu graced the stages of both The Oprah Winfrey Show and David Letterman, where she grunted happily in lieu of signing autographs.
